Fast read.
Format: Kindle
I have been in the industry 35+ years. This book covers all the common situations a fitness professional deals with.

Not much info on Marketing
Format: Kindle
If you are looking for a book on how to market your personal training services, you'll need to look elsewhere. Besides some clever ideas on how to generate leads inside the gym (the cardio survey idea is pretty cool), this book is strictly about sales and selling personal training sessions. Its a different approach than I'm used to but I will admit it makes a lot of sense. My sales and communication skills were severely lacking and greatly hurting my ability to pick up and work with clients. The info in this book changed that for me. I just needed to be told exactly what to do and in what order. ... show more

review for pt book
Format: Kindle
I read it cover to cover; took me about 2 1/2 hours to do so. It is good stuff, don't get me wrong. It contains sales techniques which are then molded into role plays, examples, questions, and techniques that are unique to the personal training industry. Very detailed with this aspect of the book. The organization and simplicity of this sales system or process (whatever you want to call it) is why I think it works. Basically, you just need to follow the steps and memorize some of the questions (or make up your own using the frame work they provide) and if you do it right, it should work logically speaking. I've only used it on one client so far, and yes I did sign them up pt but still I think it would work better if the information was more general so you could apply it to getting clients outside the gym too. ... show more

Important to have
Format: Paperback
As a PT at a big club I found this book super usuful. It helped me structure my presentation and learn many ways to overcome objections. Regardless of your style or the club you work at, you are going to benefit from all the information on how to close your potential clients. It doesn't really cover re-signing existing clients but it is well worth the money. Combined with the Ignite the Fire and you are way ahead of the game ... show more

Pretty awesome
Format: Kindle
If you are a personal trainer, and ESPECIALLY if you are a trainer who works in any type facility where it is standard for new members to receive a fitness assessment and orientation, then you need to read this book. Lets put it this way... if I knew something like this existed for our industry when I first started out, I would have been all over it. Actually I probably would not have been because I would have told you I am not a sales person and I don't have any plans to become one. Little did I know, lol. ... show more

Good read. worth the small price.
Format: Kindle
It's a very good read for personal training in a gym setting. A lot of stuff I knew from being in the industry for 10 years but a good review. I train all the new hires for a big corporate gym and use a lot of the information in our new hire trainings.

Ok for new trainers
Format: Kindle
This book is ok for new trainers especially if you work in a gym setting. If you have never done any sales this does have some good scripts. Yes, training is about sales, adding value to the customer experience and marketing yourself as a professional - it's not standing around counting reps. I do not agree at all with discounting multiple sessions and it is a horrible premise for the fitness industry. You are helping people attain a healthier lifestyle and professionals (Drs, lawyers, accountants, etc) don't discount their services. Guess what - when you tell people this they usually don't have an issue with it. Don't water down your VALUE. Add value by providing more education, giving the new client a goodie bag, thank you cards, etc... Treat them like gold and they won't mind paying your rate. People come to you because they want to make a change. Rarely do they need a hard sell and if you answer their questions, make them feel comfortable and good about you - then they will sell themselves into training with you. If people aren't signing up with you - then it's YOU not the sales mechanism. Deliver value in your sessions, before and after, and deliver results. Ask for referrals which is the best way to get good clients and not tire kickers looking for the best deal. ... show more
