We got this as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old who had expressed interest in drumming. He loves it! He was able to figure out how to work it very easily on his own, and it seems to work great. I love that you can plug headphones in, it helps with our sanity, and that it's so portable and can be stored away.

My 12 year old spent the last year as a percussionist in her middle school band. Prior to that, she had some really light experience playing on a child-size drum set. She has really enjoyed this drum pad so far and it been really convenient. I love that it takes up pretty much no space and can quickly and easily be put away unlike an electronic or traditional drum set. Yes, it's not really the same as either of those two options, but I think this is a reasonable stepping stone to get to one of those two. I believe that once a certain level of mastery is achieved on this pad, transitioning to an actual set won't take as long as you'd think. My daughter liked that the app had a variety of pop/alternative songs that she was familiar with. I do wish there was more variety and options on the app like adding multiple profiles for other users. If there is a way to do it, I haven't figured it out. Being able to use headphones is a real plus with this set, though I don't mind the sound it makes, because I think it's actually pretty decent quality. I am disappointed this company doesn't make a stand of any kind because we've currently got it set up on the coffee table and she sits on the couch while playing, which is not an ideal set up for manipulating foot pedals. Eventually, I am going to build a platform to mount onto a snare drum stand and she can sit on a drummer's stool that we already have. Hopefully that'll give her ideal positioning and comfort to play on this. In the meantime, it has been a reasonable set up to keep her happy.

Great product very durable my 1 year old grandson plays with it all day long. He loves it. I would definitely buy this dr set for others.

This has some quirks and shortcomings, which are pretty much expected. But I have two main complaints. First, the volume controls - even at the lowest setting it's too loud. You control the volume with buttons, and there are about 5 steps. The highest step is all distortion, and the lowest step is still too loud. It does work nice with headphones though. Or you can connect with speakers that have their own volume controls. My second complaint is the rhythm options, for accompaniment and practice. They're all either 70's hotel lounge music, or marches. There are no modern sounds here, not even close. Otherwise it's innovative and fun, there's a lot you can do with it. But like I said, it's got quirks and shortcomings. For example the rubber pads do not emulate a drum at all, so this doesn't provide realistic practice. The app that's included only gives you beginners level for free, then it's a subscription model. Also, you can change the sound of the drums, but you cannot customize them individually. When you change the style, it changes all 9 instrument at once. So, for example, you cannot set it to have a snare and a tom at the same time. Final note - this seems a bit expensive compared to other brands. 3.5 stars
