Very good. Nice size backpack, I plan to use this during grad school then it’ll be my travel pack/ hiking packing for day trips! It’s very compact too so I’m sure you could squeeze a some snacks, extra clothes, water, and some gear.

Significantly smaller than the previous ones throughout the years. I brought my first ( Borealis) North Face backpack a few years ago to hold multiple, and heavy college text books. It was the first backpack that didn't hurt my back, had tons of room, and sturdy back straps. Fast-forward, the old bag is still like new but I'm going back to school and just wanted something different and a cute. PROS: 1) Aesthetically pleasing- I brought this bag in the , "Wild Ginger Glacier Dye Print/Wild Ginger". If you're crazy about pink like me, then this is your color here. The color is a bit different from the photo. Instead of it looking like a Red/Maroom color..the outline of the bag is really like a dark / dusty rose gold color , and ofc the main bag with splashes of baby pink, black, maroon-ish , dusty rose gold colors . North face are great with the designs and colors. 2) Quality - It still have that good quality that you'd expect from North face. Nice and good stitching, durable materials, comfortable back support, and overall a good bag. (Thus the 2 stars rating) CONS: 1) SMALL- I cannot fit remotely the same amount of books, supplies, etc like I could with my first Borealis. And let me explain why. 2) COMPARTMENTS- A) The very first zipper/ pouch on the front of the bag is less deep than the previous Borealis. It looks like they took away some of the deepness from the bottom to add to the top. So, now, it's more like a "cubbyhole" rather a drop pouch. Which, makes things (like a calculator, big phone, etc) a bit awkward to grab , but ofc, still doable. B) The 2nd zipper/ compartment: stationary. The stationary area is where you can store your pens, pencils, supplies, miss, etc. Unfortunately, it's not as deep as the previous Borealis. The previous Borealis goes all the way down to the bottom/floor of the bag, while this one goes down about half way of the bag. Which is a huge bummer cause I used that additional space as a secondary main/ big compartment . I used to put books, planners, wallet, etc etc in there. Also, It's organization pouches isn't as vast and technical the previous one either. The previous had multiple pencil holders, pouches, etc while this new one is limited, but ofc, still functional C) The 3rd zipper/ compartment or first big compartment. Nothing too much to say about it, yet that it's smaller D) Laptop Sleeve/last compartment- This new borealis is strictly a laptop Sleeve. My previous Borealis was a huge compartment WITH a laptop Sleeve on the back of it. This is a big bummer cause that last compartment is how additional books, supplies, etc can be stored. This newer one..it can only hold a laptop/ tablet and MAYBE a small/ thin book. My other bag can hold my tablet sleeve with my 12.9 iPad , my 15.6 laptop (inside the backpack's sleeve ) , folders, Text books, and a notebook. 3) SHAPE- This Borealis have an Oval/ rounding shape which takes away from the width and deepness of the bag. This also contributes to the bag being a "snug" and/or right fit for big books and space in general. 4) ZIPPERS- The zipper doesnt zip all the way down compared to the previous Borealis. It's harder to place books and things inside of the bag since it doesn't zip down, especially for the laptop Sleeve (it's the shortest). This isn't helpingful for large/ larger text books, cause you have to kinda "wiggle" and really pull for them to come out. I also don't like the zippers itself. The previous Borealis had mid to large zippers which were easier to grab and to zip. This one have like looped type zippers that are weird to maneuver, and zip. Overall, I liked the bag but wished it had the same functionality and room as the previous Borealis. Also, I cation college and highschool students with a lot of text books, supplies, gear, etc. Its just not enough room . But I do recommend to someone who doesn't have a heavy load or is doing digital note taking etc etc.
