I have dogs that have very sensitive stomachs and the one was on a RX diet via the vet for a long time and I am not only not a big fan of the RX brands they are crazy priced for what you get. Now don't get me wrong they do work well but they are just not something I feel I want to keep my dog on long term. I also have a puppy mill rescue that has only two teeth thanks to horrid conditions and lack of care most of her life so she cannot eat kibble. She is the dog I bought this for in the beginning but all of my dogs snub kibble once they smell this. They all want it so I am not putting all four of my small dogs on it because the two that were on it have much better coats. I fed the Natures Variety kibble so I was not by any means being cheap before so it is not all that much more to swallow. The upset tummy baby has been on this for about 3 weeks and before I put him on it he had lost a lot of weight and his skin was dry from the RX stomach food. He was actually scary thin as he is a hairless crested and you can see everything. So in the three weeks he has begun to gain weight and his skin is like silk to me. I absolutely love touching it. He had one tummy event so far but I had been a sucker and gave him some Greenies so that was my bad. I went to the vet talked it all over and she said she liked this and that we should continue on it but we did decide to go to a more limited ingredient one like chicken quinoa so I will be reviewing that next. The vet liked that it has unusual ingredients so it may be better for his stomach. My puppy mill dog has not grown more coat and it is much softer and they bothe have more energy. I hope that all stays this way as I like it when everyone can eat the same thing and not have to swap around.

I started feeding this to my dog when she stopped wanting to eat as she got older. My sister had been feeding it for years to her dogs. It made her eat again until for the last few years of her life. Not sure it is worth the expense, but dogs do seem to like it, even very picky eaters.

I was looking for a food that didn't have crap in it - no preservatives, misc. animal meals, or other questionable/unidentifiable ingredients. My older dog was having some issues with his liver, and his digestion was poor. I couldn't find a kibble that fit our needs, and I really can't afford to feed raw or make my own dog food from scratch. Then I read about how kibble is typically processed, and was even more worried about what to feed my dog. I came across great reviews for Honest Kitchen and love that this is human grade dog food. Easy to store and prepare - just add water. Not only does my dog love it, but within a week he was looking and acting like a new dog! I transitioned him from boiled chicken + plain white rice or potato (which he still with digestive issues on) to the Honest Kitchen whole-grain turkey over that week. His digestive issues have ceased! (he's also on Denamarin for large dogs, started at the same time) I am sure the liver support supplement helped, but the diet change is making a huge difference! He loves this food, and his energy level and playfulness have increased as well. I know I won't have him forever, but for as long as he's still with me, this food is worth the money for how happy and healthy and vibrant he's become again. Just like with people - you are what you eat. You eat crap, you'll feel like crap. Eat healthy food, your body will respond in kind. Thank you, Honest Kitchen - the first dog food to have the FDA's stamp of approval for 'human grade' ingredients!

Ive been getting the TURKEY for almost a year, nice GREEN color and can clearly see the other ingredients. I've tried other flavors chicken being one of them, received the TURKEY yesterday and it was BROWN and powdery with no visible trace of other ingredients!! It was in the blue turkey box , says turkey but no way this is turkey! NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS since its brown like the chicken!!!

My dogs eat this okay; they eat it better than either Merrick or Wellness brand wet food and I believe the ingredients are superior. They aren't very excited about it because it's basically rehydrated gruel, though! It has a very strong odor--almost like gravy and cut grass--and while they seemed excited when I was preparing it, they quickly looked at it with disappointment afterwards. So there's that. I was very surprised at the texture. It's almost a fine powder that rehydrates into a mush. I was expecting something freeze dried for some reason; this is ground up like a powder. This dog food also has a lot of stuff in it that honestly isn't all that necessary. All of the vegetables and grains are useless to most dogs, especially primitive breed dogs. All of that would be fine if it were not for the price. For the price of this recipe you could put your dog on a much better diet. VERDICT: better than most prepared dog foods, but fresh meat and vegetables will actually be cheaper and healthier so it's really only for convenience. Dogs aren't really a fan.

I wish this company had a sampler pack of all the options - I read that some dogs like one flavor but not another... the issue is the serving size is huge and thus expensive... which makes it an awkward item to just be sitting ignored on my shelf now that he's chosen Nulo to eat instead. I'd really love to see if he'd like the chicken or beef (we got Turkey) but spending another $45 to try another flavor... pass. I will say I can see how if your dog likes it it's easy to make and awesome to have for travel - I ended up scooping out some and keeping it in separate ziplock bags in the box so it was super easy to get out add water. The smell is okay, not unpleasant like some foods. I wish he liked it.

My dog is really liking this food, and so am I. It's like a doggy oatmeal - mix it with a bit of water, and within about 2 minutes it thickens up. After it hydrates I top it with dry food of the same brand - my pup prefers texture variety. The ingredients look so much better than some of the popular brands out there; no "chicken meal." It has real meat, oats, peas and other good stuff. And it's human grade! (It doesn't smell like cat food.) I appreciate that it doesn't need to be refrigerated or frozen and thawed. Easy.
