This is the only dethatching rake I've used and it REALLY digs in even if you don't push it down. It pulls up wads of dead brown grass. But, along with that, I've found a significant fraction of small grass blades that appear to be new young growth. Maybe like 20% of it is green grass. I will prob try a different dethatching rake eventually to compare.

When this rake arrived my husband was mad.. we have lots of rakes ,we don't need another rake..etc.etc. he said. Now after trying it this rake is my husband's favorite rake lol!! He loves that its light ,he loves you don't have to apply pressure to make it catch everything. He uses it on our grass, our gravel, for leaves ..everything basically! Everyone needs this rake!

The spring loaded tines really grab the grass with hardly any pressure. Great for leaves and super for dethatching dead grass in the spring. Sturdy and a little more expensive, but worth it. A beast of a rake

This rake, to me, is like a cross between a leaf rake and a pitch fork. It has the width of a rake, but the tines of a pitch fork... VERY handy for cleaning up the chicken run, raking landscaping projects, or even using on grass like a de- thatcher. (It depends on the angle and the surface that you use it on.) Extremely light weight and easy to put together. The tines are self cleaning which is a time saver. Recommended!
