  • Worth the smell.
I've been using this soap for a few months now and it is the best soap i've ever used. I had read about how good pine tar soap is for your skin, curing and helping with many skin conditions among other things, so i decided to try some. I had had some sort of horrible "rash" or whatever,i'm not shure what it was,on my face, and i was afraid it was going to leave scars. For over a year i tried everything to get rid of it and nothing worked. I don't wear makeup or anything other than wash my face with soap. I was using an "all natural" soap that was really full of not so healthy things. I became concerned for my health and did alot of research. I had never realized that your skin absorbs the things you put on it as well as water. So all that not so healthy "all natural"soap was being absorbed into my skin. Thats when i found Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. It wasn't full of those unhealthy ingredients and sounded great. So it arrived and i'm like `It smells like motor oil!`, so i didnt use it for a couple of weeks and still had that horrible rash on my face. Finally, i decided to get past the smell and use it. I liked it right away(besides the smell) it lathered up real nice, left my skin soft, cleaned really well, and didnt leave residue on your skin like some other soaps. You just feel light and clean and refreshed. That was worth it, to me, enough for the smell already. Then i noticed my rash was getting better. Then after about three weeks my rash was completely gone and left no scarring on my face, just clear smooth skin. That and it also cured a few other minor skin problems. That was months ago and i havent seen a single sign of that rash coming back, and i'm still using this soap. And after using the soap for a few months i have become use to the smell. It no longer smells like motor oil to me. It smells like a campfire in a pine forest, i actually like it now. Anyways, i never thought how important soap is for your health until now. Im never going back to that crap i use to use no matter how nice it smells, that is how they get you to buy it. So if your thinking about buying this soap then base your decision on health and not smell(although some people might like it). It was worth it for me. Please forgive my typing, my cat is trying to lay on my keyboard. ... show more

  • Beard smell is gone.
Scent: Pine Size: 4.25 ounce (Pack of 1)
I've been trying everything to make my beard stop smelling like wet moldy dog hair. This is the only thing that has worked. I've tried everything from zinc soap to medicated soap to strongly scented conditioners and beard balm but nothing worked it just covered the smell. This actually made it smell fresh and clean. While you're taking a shower it does smell like you're smoking cigars and you can even taste cigar but it's not that bad after a minute. And the smell is 95% gone after the shower and goes away when you dry. Seriously try it and refund it if you hate it but it really works. ... show more

  • Love it !
Scent: Pine Size: 3.25 Ounce (Pack of 1)
When it first arrived, the first thing I noticed was it smelled like a campfire, I put it in my shower and then my whole bathroom smelled like a campfire. That did not bother me, but if you’re not a fan of that smell, this may not be for you. After using it the first time I really liked it, it lathers very well, which is important to me, it rinses well also and leaves a very clean filling on your skin. I have only been using it for a little over a week now and can tell you this will not be my only purchase. Another note about the campfire smell. It doesn’t make your skin smell like that after you’ve used it, and after it is used that first initial campfire, strength smell subsided greatly. My plan with the pine tar soap is to rotate it with beef tallow soap that I purchased at the same time. The pine tar soap will be more medicinal purposes and the beef tallow will have the moisturizer purpose. I definitely think it’s worth giving it a try , I personally love it. ... show more

  • PUPPS SURVIVOR
Scent: Pine Size: 4.25 ounce (Pack of 1)
Yet another pregnancy PUPPS survivor over here giving praise to this life saving soap. I developed PUPPS in my 32nd week of pregnancy and couldn’t bare to think the only “cure” was to give birth which meant I’d suffer for 8 more weeks. The intense itchy feeling was enough to make me cry at night. I looked into natural remedies and came across Pine Tar Soap. I implemented the use of the soap, showering with it 3 times a day and letting the suds sit for 5-10 mins before washing it off and by day 4, the rash seems to be 90% gone. The itchy feeling now is ever so slightly and only tends to bother me at night when I get hot in my sleep. Along with the soap, I soaked in baking soda baths for 30 mins, cut back on my sugar intake, started drinking hot lemon water first thing in the morning and pure black cherry juice throughout the day. I’m thinking a combination of all these things is what has helped my PUPPS go away but I think the soap is the main reason for the improvement. The downside? Yes, the smell is potent and smells of campfire but when you’re desperate for relief, the smell won’t matter. Plus, like others have said, the smell goes away as soon as you wash it off. I couldn’t recommend the soap enough to other mamas suffering from this hellacious rash. ... show more

  • Great Ingredients, Wild Ride for the Nose
Scent: Pine Size: 4.25 ounce (Pack of 1)
Let me start by saying: the quality of this soap is undeniably solid. The ingredients are simple, clean, and free from the usual Frankenstein chemical cocktail. If you're a fan of natural skincare, Grandpa’s got your back. Literally. But oh boy—the smell. I thought I knew what pine tar smelled like. I was picturing a cozy woods, fresh pine needles, maybe a whisper of campfire. Instead? Imagine if cough syrup and dog flea dip had a baby. And that baby grew up, got a gym membership, and punched me in the sinuses. It’s strong. Not “just a hint of rugged outdoors,” but “forgot you left a tire fire smoldering in the shower.” If you're buying this as a daily-use soap without a specific skin issue in mind, I’d maybe think twice—unless you’re into that sort of thing, in which case, please carry on you brave soul. All that said, I'm giving it 4 stars because the quality is there. The smell? Subjective. ... show more
