  • Fabulous, tough weights workout
I just did this workout for the first time and loved it--I was a total sweatball by the time it ended. This is not a beginner's tape, but if you've done the Firm or weight trained for a while, you might love it. The instructors are good, no time is wasted--you work hard from the beginning to the few stretches at the end. I personally need more stretching than is usual on the Firm tapes, so I just do a few stretches--or a little yoga--on my own when the DVD is over. I generally do a Firm DVD--usually Firm Strength, Maximum Body Shaping, or Sculpted Buns, Hips and Thighs--twice a week. I walk and swim so I do not miss the absence of aerobics on some of these. On two or three non-Firm days I do yoga or dance. I do a little Chi Kung most every day. ... show more

Another triumph by the Firm.You will see and feel the results.Heavy Weight work for the upper and lower body is a excellent body shaper.This is a Firm cross trainer to be alternated with Super Cardio another great workout.This workout really is Super Sculpting.A variety of great and effective exersises to firm and tone the entire body. You will need a variety of dumbells about 3-20 pounds depending on how strong you are.You will need the firm fannylifter or a 12-14 inch box.Also a barbell and ankle weights are needed.This is a overall great weight workout for the entire body.I love alternated it with Super Cardio.I love all of the Firm`s cross training videos.This is one of the best. ... show more

  • Mixed feelings
I have a huge DVD collection and only have several of the Firm workouts-I did this for the first time today and while I thought it was a fairly good weights workout,it fell short in certain areas-the few abs excercises at the end didn’t feel adequate and the moves wearing ankle weights barely gave enough reps to feel a burn.I’m also not a fan of having a barbell behind the neck so I substituted Dumbells for many barbell moves.I’m almost 56 and have been working out for years and this was maybe a 4 for me on a scale of 1-10-will probablly keep for when I want an easier workout or maybe in 10 years it’ll be just perfect on my joints!For now,I’ll stick to my Cathe Friedrich workouts ... show more

  • Strong Streamlined Workout
I really like this workout. It's a no nonsense, no fuss, chatty free workout. Yes this tape is dated, but so what? It works. Visible results in 10 workouts is a true statement. I've been using the Firm videos almost 30 years. There is reason why people are so fanatical about them, they work. I like the older ones better.   • Excellent Firm Workout - Timeless
This is a great total body workout. Music is still modern enough for today. Techno and New Age tracks. I was not distracted by the fact this workout was made in the late 90's. This is a classic tough, great Firm workout. This will definitely be added to my workout weekly rotation. Instructors are very good, especially one of my faves Carissa Foster. I love the firm it is one of the best exercise videos ever made used to have all the firm tapes on VHS it is the best way to sculpt your body hands down this was everything I remembered! you are going to know you got a workout even if you can't get through it on your first try.   • Great workout -- but be careful of some of the moves
Although I'm a home exerciser and have 300+ workout DVD's in my collection, I only recently started buying Firm workouts maybe a month or so ago. I did this one for the first time yesterday, and it was a great workout -- one that challenged me in a good way! To do this workout, you do need a fair bit of equipment: * a high step * a barbell -- but you can use dumbbells * dumbbells in various weights * ankle weights * a dowel for balance help -- but I just used my barbell pole Unlike some other Firm workouts that have cardio built in, this is more traditional weight training, and it covers all major body parts. I consider myself an advanced exerciser, and I was nicely challenged with this. Yes, it does feel a little dated with the leotards and hairstyles, but I started working out in the mid-80's to Jane Fonda and Jazzercise, so it has a fun nostalgic flavor to me. :-) My big precaution is that a few of the moves are a bit unsafe. For instance, they have you use the barbell to do a clean and press, and then do some lifts with the barbell *behind* your neck and shoulders. Nowadays, most trainers advise against this move. They also do shallow forward lunges, which tend to torque the knees more. I just went more slowly with these, and used a greater range of motion. All in all, though, I'm really glad I bought this and will definitely do it repeatedly! It reminds me of some workouts by my favorite trainer, Cathe Friedrich, especially her Muscle Max with Cathe Friedrich (Hardcore Series workout) and Gym Styles series. ... show more
