A must read
Format: Kindle
I highly recommend not reading this story before Bewitched and Bespelled. I wrote this review after reading the whole trilogy and prequel because I wanted to know if it really added to the final book. I know prequels are not always a necessary read, but this one is a must—it gives so much context. Given that the MCs have lived past lives, it’s incredible how much clarity this story gives about the characters’ behavior and decisions. The constant emotion I experienced while reading was sadness. They were so happy, and knowing how it would end kept my heart heavy with agony. But it wasn't a 'bad' sadness, so don’t let that deter you! We see Memnon before his magic consumes his conscience, and he was so sweet; sadly, he changed so much. That’s why I’m even more surprised by Selene’s reluctance to accept why Memnon behaves the way he does, especially since she has her memories back. At the same time, it really shows how different Selene and Roxi are. Zosines got what he deserved, and what I feel toward Eislyn is a worrying amount of hate; considering she is just a fictional character. Reading the last moments of their lives together, all over again was absolutely excruciating. ... show more

Obsessed with memnon!
Format: Kindle
The Curse that Binds by Laura Thalassa. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Audiobook was good. I’d give the narrator 4 out of 5 stars. Good voice, fit the girl. Could have been a little more animated but overall good job. Male maybe 3 out of 5. The scene he narrated could have been more passionate. I listened a little faster than normal because I thought the pacing a little slow. My heart was pounding and I needed to get into it!! Now the story. I am OBSESSED with Memnon. This book was really good!! This is the first book I have read from this series. I received a copy of the audiobook, and it said prequel so I went for it. I HAVE to know what happens next. After writing this I will download Bewitched. The story was gripping from the beginning. At first I thought the dialogue was a little bland, but honestly it was just because the characters were so young. The older they got the better everything was!! It was like being in the relationship with them. Roxi was really awesome once she started using her powers. She was sweet but also badass and I loved her. Now Memnon. Ummm I pictured Khal Drogo and the Dothraki from GOT while I was reading. I have no idea how I haven’t heard of this series before. He is one of the best book boyfriends I have ever read. Utterly obsessed with roxi, he lets it be known constantly and I melt!!!! His love never wavered and I’m just so sad at what has happened and I have so many questions! I can’t wait to keep reading. I’m intrigued that the first book takes place 2000 years later. Like what happened to Roxilana?!? What is going on! The only thing I didn’t care for was the repetitive battle scenes. But I didn’t mind them in the end bc roxi and memnon had some great moments post battle lol. Read this book! ... show more

Wow! What a prequel!!!!
Format: Kindle
I love the original series, and this prequel brought on so many new levels of understanding of Roxi and Memnon's relationship. This makes me excited to go back and reread the series with this extra knowledge. Thank you Laura for blowing my expectations for this book out of the water!!!!!

I wholeheartedly recommend
Format: Kindle
This is just the perfect prequel for the Bewitched series. I've been loving this series and this book was no exception - getting to know Roxilana and Memnon's story was beautiful. The sweet way they found each other and the fact that they were always fated was heartwarming. I also now have even more love for Memnon and the way that he is after learning more of his history and my goodness the ending! Makes me even more eager for the last book in this beautiful series. ... show more

Unexpected pleasure
Format: Kindle
I gave this 5 stars bc as a rule I have a tendency to hate prequels, but loved this story. For me, the love of a story is the ending, and a well written path there. So knowing the ending is almost sacrilege, and not worth it. That being said, I love just about everything LT has written and downloaded this book before noticing it was a prequel. I just loveeee the timeless love story between Roxi and Mannon that spans thousands of years. While I wasn’t stoked about it being a prequel their love story is one i cherish, so I powered through and am glad I did. It’s adorable. Cheers to anyone to wants to join in a reading this indomitable duo. 💕 ... show more
