I have a very tall 5 year old (4’ 3”) who is about to start kindergarten. Their building doesn’t have A/C so I know her first few weeks are going to be really hot. Her public school dress code requires all skirts, shorts and dresses to be no more than 3” above the knee, which is next to impossible on my string bean of a daughter. These are nice and long and will be perfect for those hot days in school. Her normal size was even a little big in the waist, and the cinching buttons inside made it perfect. The shorts were a decent quality. They were really long though. They covered my daughter's knees, so I ended up cutting them. If your child is short, they may be longer than expected. Luckily, they were cheap.

Bought these for my twin granddaughters to wear to a concert, they fit great. They wear the same size, but are different body types. The adjustable waistline worked well and both ended up with a comfortable fit.
