  • A Terrifying and Thrilling Masterpiece - Callisto Protocol Delivers!
The Callisto Protocol is an absolute triumph for horror gaming enthusiasts, and it is undoubtedly one of the most spine-chilling experiences available on the PlayStation 5. Developed by the talented team at Striking Distance Studios, this game captivates you from the moment you start, leaving you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Visually, the game is a true marvel. The graphics on the PlayStation 5 are stunning, bringing the dark and eerie world of Callisto to life in a way that leaves you feeling fully immersed. The attention to detail is exceptional, from the hauntingly atmospheric environments to the gruesome character models. Every shadow, every flicker of light, and every blood-curdling detail contributes to an unparalleled sense of dread and terror. The gameplay mechanics are smooth and intuitive, allowing for seamless exploration and combat. Navigating the sinister environments of Callisto Station feels fluid, and the controls are responsive, enhancing the overall immersion of the experience. The game strikes the perfect balance between tension-building exploration and intense, heart-pounding encounters with the grotesque creatures that roam the station. The narrative of the Callisto Protocol is both captivating and chilling. The story unfolds in a way that keeps you engaged and constantly yearning for more. The depth of the lore and the mystery surrounding the events on Callisto Station are expertly crafted, providing a sense of intrigue and a desire to uncover the truth lurking within the darkness. What truly sets Callisto Protocol apart is its ability to terrify and shock players. The game relies on psychological horror elements, jump scares, and an oppressive atmosphere that will keep you in a perpetual state of unease. It's not just about the scares, though; the game also manages to create a sense of vulnerability and desperation, making every encounter with the unknown a heart-stopping experience. Furthermore, the sound design deserves special mention. The ambient noises, bone-chilling soundtrack, and the unnerving sound effects heighten the tension and amplify the horror. Playing with a good headset enhances the experience even further, immersing you in a world of dread and terror that will leave you breathless. In conclusion, the Callisto Protocol is a masterpiece of horror gaming on the PlayStation 5. It pushes the boundaries of what a horror game can achieve, delivering a terrifying and thrilling experience that will linger in your mind long after you've put down the controller. If you're a fan of horror or simply enjoy being scared out of your wits, this game is an absolute must-play. Brace yourself for an unforgettable journey into the darkest depths of fear. ... show more

  • Really Good, really fun, Survival Horror
I waited a long time time get this game because of some bad reviews that I read. I'm glad I finally bought and played it. This game is a lot of fun! If you liked Dead Space, you will like this game too. Not exactly the same but the atmospheres are similar. Some veviews said that it was a melee only game. Untrue. I use guns all the time. There are many to choose from, and lots of upgrades to make if you wish. Ammo and health are plentiful enough, but on higher difficulty both become much more scarce. Some reviews said there was no variety in the enemies. Also untrue. There were many varieties to fight, and different combat strategies worked better on some enemies than on others. The game is quite linear but there are a few little side trips. It looks and sounds beautiful, and the story is very good. I felt engaged in the story until the very end. My final comment is that the game was not terribly difficult until the final boss. The final boss was very challenging and required a ton of ammunition even on the lowest difficulty. Get this game and play it using headphones in a dark room. I bet you'll enjoy it! ... show more

  • Ignore the haters
This game had so much around it before release. Then at launch, dead silence. After doing some research I saw all the bad reviews. When Playstation Plus dropped a free trial I decided to play it, and boy was I impressed. The story seemed promising, the graphics were great, the cast starred the amazing Josh Duhamel and Sam Witwer. The unpredictable yet inevitable jumpscare were adrenaline pumping in a way I've never felt before. The combat is a bit repetitive, I must say. But with the weapon choices being customizable and upgradable, there is room for growth. This game is also a really easy way to get a platinum trophy. Most people would complain about the ending. And I admit, it isn't that great. The true ending is part of the paid dlc which I have yet to buy. But for what I played, it was solid and I have no regrets. Give it a chance on sale. ... show more

  • Ehhh
The graphics are nice and everything but it's very very clunky to control. My suggestion would be to pass this one by and just buy Dead Space remake

  • The true ending comes in DLC
I did like this game. Its a little rudimentary, derivative, but then I am a guy that watches the same 80's horror movies. Sometimes I just accept things for what they are; Calisto Protocol is a beautiful game. Good atmosphere, great universe. I felt that I was living in a horror movie with great art, graphics. The acting is great - I can say that because the graphics are so good that the actor's scans are almost uncanny. Now for the bad: It seems to look only good on the PS5 and that was due to the fact that it was meant to be an exclusive and right at the end they decided to release it for XBOX and PC - So i guess those are lazy ports and have performance issues. A lot of these newer games are being sold incomplete and the fix it with a patch later - so physical copies seem pointless because whatever is in that disk it will eventually get patched out. So this game might not work properly in 10 years. I collect games that work. The REALLY bad: The ending that you get leaves on a cliffhanger and they want you to buy their $30 dollar DLC in order to get the TRUE ending. That is a rotten practice that I thought was done away with Mass Effect 3. So i recommend that you get this game cheap! and wait for the DLC to go on a sale. The ending should have been in the game. Good: great gameplay, graphics are awesome, great atmosphere. BAD: Its incomplete and short and needs alot of online downloads in order to run well. ... show more
