  • GREAT BOOK AND GIFT IDEA
Format: Hardcover
Gave this as a white elephant gift. Just the title alone is so unique. Everyone fought over it and the winner later said it was thoroughly enjoyed. Very reasonably priced as well.

  • The Book of Unusual Knowledge: Big Book of Fascinating Facts & Information
Format: Hardcover
Informative, Entertaining, but Slightly Overwhelming — 4 Stars The Book of Unusual Knowledge: Big Book of Fascinating Facts & Information is a really fun and engaging bookmark-style book that’s perfect for curious minds. It’s packed with a huge variety of weird, interesting, and thought-provoking facts, and you’ll find yourself flipping through pages just to stumble on random tidbits you never knew — like quirky scientific anomalies or bizarre historical events. What I Loved: 1. Wide Range of Topics This book covers everything from science and history to nature and pop culture. Because of that variety, there’s always something fresh and unexpected on each page — it’s great for learning in bite-sized chunks. 2. Attention-Grabbing Design Each section is visually appealing, with interesting layouts, illustrations, and text boxes that make the facts easy to digest. They’ve done a good job of making dense information feel lively and accessible. 3. Perfect for Casual Reading This isn’t a deep, academic text — and that’s a strength. It’s ideal for browsing on the couch, reading in short spurts, or picking it up during downtime. It works well when you want to satisfy that itch for random trivia without committing to a heavyweight non-fiction read. 4. Conversation Starter Because the facts are so unusual, many of them make for great icebreakers or fun trivia at gatherings. I’ve learned a few things that I love to share just for the “wow, really?” reaction. Where It Could Be Better: Depth of Information: While the variety is impressive, the depth is sometimes superficial. For certain topics, you only get a surface-level fact without a deeper explanation or context. If you’re really passionate about a subject, you’ll want more detail than what’s provided. Organization: The way topics are grouped can feel a little haphazard. Sometimes you jump from nature to history to technology in a way that doesn’t flow very naturally, which can be jarring if you prefer more thematic structure. Text Size: Some of the fonts used are quite small, especially in dense fact boxes, making it a little challenging to read for long stretches without eye strain. Factual Accuracy/Triage Warning: Not all the facts feel equally verifiable. While most are solid and well-researched, there are a few that seem like they could be more “fun trivia” than rigorously cited. I’d suggest double-checking if you're using it for serious research (but for casual reading, it's fine). Overall Verdict: This is a highly enjoyable book for anyone who loves quirky knowledge, trivia, and random facts. It’s not perfect — but it’s certainly entertaining and informative, and it delivers exactly what it promises: a big collection of unusual and fascinating tidbits. It earns a strong 4 out of 5 stars from me. ... show more

Format: Hardcover
Very fun read on a recent trip. The assortment of facts and data was really intriguing and kept my focus for several hours of light reading. The book is well made, even for a hardback, and the glossy pages are bound with care so this book should last for a very long time. The asking price was really a bargain when this was on sale for 25% off. ... show more
