Plus the font is reasonable for a (not so gifted) parent in bedtime lighting to try to read out loud and while they are physically big, they are not too heavy/thick like some Encyclopedias. The pictures are inviting, and the reading level pushes him to improve his vocabulary. They really like the books and that's important!
