Description

In this fun, fact-packed science book for kids, young readers will discover the bacteria, viruses, and other germs and microbes that keep our bodies and our world running, as well as how and when they can be harmful and the precautions we can take to prevent them from becoming so. Meet a glowing squid, traveling fungus spores, and much more. The Bacteria Book walks the line between "ew, gross!" and "oh, cool!," exploring why we need bacteria and introducing readers to its microbial mates―viruses, fungi, algae, archaea, and protozoa. The Bacteria Book is a fun and informative introduction to a STEM subject that brings kids up-close to the big world of tiny science. With remarkable photography, kooky character illustrations, and lots of fun facts, this book uses real-life examples of microbiology in action to show how tiny microbes affect us in big ways. • Great book!
My nephew loves this book. He is 8 for reference. He reads it at least once a day.

  • Must have for kids all ages!
Fascinating books! My 5 year old daughter loves it. Great content, accessible, colorful and fun! We found the book at the library and loved it so much that we bought it. We even did an activity: drawing and coloring the viruses (last photo). The book also contains many contemporary topics to see how bacteria are used to clean oil spills in the sea, how do we catch a cold, making insulin etc… Even adults will learn! ... show more

  • Amazing science book for elementary students!
This book was ordered to compliment a STEM project for 2nd graders studying bacteria and viruses. This 8 1/2" x 11" hardcover book is ideal for classroom circle reading. The graphics are bold with high definition illustrations that bring the subject matter "to life" in an easy to digest manner. The book sections carry the learning from a macro perspective down to a micro view. Imagine students having a single grain of rice and learning that something so small represents what billions of bacteria would look like. The 72-page book offers extensive learning sections including a glossary with pronunciation key and detail index. Highly recommend this publication for classroom use. ... show more

  • Stunning Images, Consequential Microbes
A peak into the most mysterious and yet most consequential world. It seems great for any age as long as they have the interest. This is my 3 year old's new favorite book (he's become very interested in germs in the covid-19 era). As I read it to him, and he proclaims, "This is a great book!" It's not simplistic either. I imagine it's written for much older kids, maybe middle school age. My parents and I learned a lot from this book, and we're science minded though physics is our normal focus. There are stunning real images of microbes, great brief explanations, full of applications which touch our daily lives, and a few cartoon drawings of microbes to bring humor and character to the viruses. It's a perfect resource for a budding microbiologist! ... show more
