We got this sand digger for my nephew’s birthday, and it's officially his favorite toy now. From the moment it was unwrapped, he was digging up every patch of sand he could find with pure joy. There was a dent when it arrived, but Amazon handled it quickly and professionally, kudos for solid customer service. The digger itself is sturdy and easy for kids to operate. It’s held up well under some enthusiastic play, and watching my nephew pretend he's working on a construction site is pure gold. A total hit at the birthday party and beyond! The excavator itself is great for the intended us and price. However, the assembly process is ridiculous. First, the parts that came preassembled were done on top of the plastic wrapper. So the plastic wrapper is screwed into it and it’s impossible to get it all off. I know what you’re saying, just flip it around and unscrew it and then reassemble those parts. False, they are flat tops and cannot be unscrewed. Second, the set itself has no pre-drilled holes, not even a starting hole to be expanded once you screw it in. You have to force it in yourself. It should have been a 5 minute assembly and it took at least 30 minutes. Once assembled though, the kids love it. ... show more

I had my eye on this toy for my son for over a year. When it came time for his 3rd birthday, the right time arrived. I ordered the package with the vest and hard hat and the standard, no wheels excavator. It was a little difficult to put together, and the instructions could be clearer, but between other reviews and the Internet, I managed to assemble it. My son was in love. A few things to consider: 1. I consider this to be appropriate for my 3 year old son, assuming adult supervision. If he tried to lift it or move it on his own, he could accidentally pinch his fingers if he did it the wrong way. 2. Is not very heavy and the size is perfect for any 3 year old. I’m not sure how big a kid can be to use it (probably in the product description) but given the price and quality, I would be happy even if he could only use it until the age of 4 or 5. 3. As long as you don’t drop it on or bump into something that can scratch a well painted surface, this thing is very durable. 4. You’ll need a sandbox or a pile of dirt or mulch! ... show more
