I needed some paint for my Song of Ice and Fire miniatures and decided to go with Army Painter and so glad I did! Great paint and easy to apply. Love the color options in this set which were great for what I needed. Plus I was able to bust out a lot of different armies with them. Highly recommend it

I usually paint miniatures using the dry brush method. The speed paints work very well, however there is a learning curve. I suggest you check out some of the videos on youtube for more information. I have not found a color that is week. Even yellows and orange work great. I enjoy painting miniatures, and the speed paints are a blast to use. You can mix paints, including any acrylic paints. These paints help remove the need to apply any number of coats, which is one of the biggest reasons I burn out on painting minis. Get basing and shading done faster so you can focus your time on building up highlights, which is in my opinion, the more fun way to make multiple passes on a mini.

These are great for painting minis and can be mixed for more variation. I'm getting myself the whole set for my birthday later this year.

    • packing is meh, paints are good.
I have a bunch of Vallejo paint, which I love, but my son suggested I try the new "contrast" paints, soI ordered a box set. Unlike a Vallejo boxed set, the bottles come in a loose box. Painters who already own a paint rack won't care, bit others might be disappointed to not have a plastic insert that keeps them aligned and visible. As far as painting goes, these do the improved job they are supposed to do, as long as you prep your subject with an appropriate primer. I haven't tried every color, but the ones I have tried giver the model, and when tried give the shading that normally takes a separate wash or multiple layers of paint to achieve. I'll leave specific commentary to the expert painters, but if you are new or am average painter, I suggest acquiring some as you finish off your standard colors. ... show more
