  • Simple Traditional Songs Perfect for Improvising Around
I bought these because I’ve been on a kick lately learning traditional Celtic songs. These books tend to either be arranged for harp or guitar, or like this book, they are very simple renditions of songs for piano. I like these because they are a nice takeoff point for further improvising around the main tune. It’s lovely connecting with the energy and power of these old traditional songs. Lots of history there. ... show more

  • Wonderful ancient songs!
This book is filled with some amazing and very old Irish tunes. I would rate it as intermediate in difficulty, but I am no Mozart. The scores are of a very old print type, not like modern music, so it can be taxing to the eyes. The fact that they were recorded in print to preserve their history for the ages makes this book absolutely priceless. The music is playable, but could be easier for old eyes to read. The binding bends, but the music can be hard to maintain on the piano. I highly recommend this book! ... show more

  • a great asset
A wonderful asset to my music library. Yet again Dover Books has rescued a great title from obscurity. Lots of difficult keys but manageable.

  • The Ancient Music of Ireland Arranged for Piano
I was extremly pleased about this booklet. The content consisting of many old Irish music pieces and a very interesting and detailed description of the Irish Harp and its former players made it an outstanding booklet far above of what I expected. The 1792 meeting of 15 Irish harp player in Ireland obviouly had a great influence in the collection of this booklet and I was surprised to note the great Geminiani (Italien composer)had such an influence in Irish music. I can highly recommend this music collection for any advanced piano player. ... show more
