The TESmart KVM switch is able to switch Video, but not Keyboard and Mouse. I'm using a basic wired HP keyboard and mouse. The rear panel dedicated keyboard and mouse inputs don't work at all and I tried various keyboards and mice I have on hand, including a wireless Microsoft keyboard. None of them work using those ports for either PC1 or PC2. Per their support page, I tried putting a USB hub into the front panel port and attaching the keyboard/mouse to the hub. This works, but only for PC 2, PC1 doesn't see a keyboard or mouse when I switch to PC1, even though the video switches over just fine. Even worse, when switched to PC1, the keyboard/mouse is still active on PC2. I've followed the troubleshooting guide, swapping all cables for PC1 to the PC2 port and vis versa. The problem of not seeing keyboard/mouse is always associated with the PC attached to the PC1 ports. On the last page in the user manual, I see they've only tested this with 15 keyboards/mice, majority of them are Logitech. This list should be on the Amazon purchase page! Could have avoided a lot of hassle buying, connecting and returning a KVM device that probably only works with 15 keyboards. Returning this today.

UPDATE: Well, after about a year the unit has become too unstable. It will just randomly loose sync with my monitors, mouse, and keyboard and stop responding for several seconds. This will happen throughout the day. I use it for work and I just cant have that with zoom calls. Stinks to waste all of that money. Ended up replacing it with the AV Access Desktop/Laptop KVM which seems stable. Hopefully it lasts longer. ORIGINAL: I have been using KVMs for a very long time. I have had many over the years, vga, dvi, hdmi, displayport. They all tend to have their "quirks" so the trick is to find one that has the fewest and the ones you can live with. Overall, this one is the best dual pc/dual screen HDMI. It is well constructed. Comes with a nice collection of cables that seem well made (but I ended up using my own 10 footers). Switching is smooth and fast. It can be changed using the buttons on the front or even an included IR remote control that I can teach my learning remote. You can also use the keyboard hot keys which work very reliably. It fully supported my logitech wireless keyboard and G 502x mouse which have given other KVMs problems. They will wake the computers from sleep although, for some reason, I have to hit the keyboard to wake it and then move the mouse to wake the screens - kind of strange but not the end of the world. The only real grip I have with it is the usb hub cascade depth. With USB, the general rule is you cannot go more then 5 deep. The sixth will not be recognize and the OS will start complaining (windows 10/11 at least). When I use this KVM, it seems that it counts as two even though usb hubs dont need more then one unless they go over 7 plugs or something like that. This created a problem because it put my setup over the limit. Never had this problem with other KVMs. I had to rearrange some cables to make it all work but still kind of annoying. Like I said, find a KVM with quirks you can live with. The usb hub thing is not a huge deal and well worth working around because this unit is so stable. Its a keeper.

The Good * Metal body * EDID emulation for faster switching and not having windows and other things move around * A couple of USB 3.0 ports to help future proof it a little * Keyboard shortcuts for switching between computers * Can switch between computers or even individual monitors for each computer * Remote to make switching even easier * Supports 4K@60Hz and other combos like 2K@144Hz * Allows for easy sharing of audio The Bad * The batteries in the remote are next to impossible to remove once inserted * A little on the expensive side considering the older USB 2.0 model is around 170USD and the only apparent difference between them are the two USB 3.0 ports * Switching between computers isn't quite as fast as the marketing material would have you believe, but it's better than all the alternatives The Ugly * Nothing so far While it's a pain to have to rip out all those cables and redo them to accommodate this device, it's ultimately worth it in the end if you are working remote and don't have room/budget for a dedicated pair of monitors for your work and personal computer. Especially if you hate having your various app windows shuffled around or app windows being able to expand over the Win 11 taskbar. Just make sure you check your cables and/or adapters because if the cable can't handle 4K@60Hz, neither can the KVM switch.

Fantastic product if you want to switch between different ecosystems (tested with all 3: Linux, Mac, and Windows) easily with a single click. If you're using the latest monitors, think about purchasing the direct display port version, as this version is supported by only HDMI. I used display port converters to connect to the displays. For the latest macbook(s), as it is supported by only USB-C input, you can place a docking station between the switch and the computer. I used a Dell D6000 and it turned out fine. Only issue: not satisfied with only 2 USB-A ports for keyboard and mouse. So, a mechanical wired keyboard may not be fully functional.

I wanted this to work but it did not meet the mark. The biggest issue is that it would not pass a USB3 hub or any USB2 device through to my Dell-branded computer or docking station. I'm pretty computer savvy and have used KVMs for years, so this seemed very odd. Tried it with several different mice, wired and wireless keyboards and two Dell laptops -- all failed to connect, so I could not control the Dell computer. And, the mouse and keyboard USB connections failed to connect to either computer, very annoying. I was able to use as a jury-rigged USB switch to make the connection but that seemed silly after paying for a new KVM. So I bought a different KVM for half the price that works! To be fair, the manufacturer provides a printed list of "compatible mouse and keyboards" but I'm not going out to buy and try them. I have Logitech and Microsoft HMI devices so it is my humble opinion that these should work, plug-and-play. Not recommended, sadly.

TLDR: This KVM is about as effective as the laughable AI summary from Amazon. In what world does more than 50% of ratings being at 1 or 2 stars amount to a summary "Customers find the KVM to be a fantastic product" ???? NOPE. Objectively, customers do NOT. Your AI helper is tuned for sales, not for helping customers. Good grief. Does not play well with Thunderbolt to HDMI cable (on MacOS). Works fine with my Windows PC though. Not super excited about the performance of this KVM. I used to buy a lot of KVMs for a tech studio and know from experience that finding one that plays well with Mac & Windows and dual monitor setups is non-trivial. That being said... I've been living with this for a while now and it has not performed well, specifically - I experience regular flicker (meaning, monitor off / on -- not just subtle screen glitches) on one of the monitors, when the KVM is set to my Mac. More on that below. THE BAD: • The KVM is not working with a standard cable that has been tested - and meets the stated spec (4K @ 60Hz) • That cable situation is pretty common if you are using a Mac built in the last 3-4 years (maybe even more common than that) • Update - using 2 identical monitors now, and still not loving the perf / flakiness of this switcher. Close to throwing it in the bin and going to back to manually switching monitors via the built-in input menu (which is a PITA, but more consistent than this KVM) THE GOOD: • Build Quality - Compatibility problem excepted, this is a really slim, well-built, solid piece of kit. Clear lighting indicators, Operation - it does work fine when set to my Windows PC. I see no issues when on that box • Included - its nice that the appropriate cables are included. They are not the only KVM that does this, but - it is a welcome "feature." Definitely confirm whether all cables are included if you are shopping & comparing units. • Physical Buttons / Independent Switching - I like the ability to switch only one monitor at a time. I don't use the K&M portion of my KVMs, so - being able to activate one monitor on Windows and quickly do something there, while the Mac is running on another is a nice feature. They also include a single button that just switches both monitors at the same time. • Buttons are not junky "touchpad" material. They are physical, rubber buttons with a clear LED indicator for active monitor(s). • Slim profile. Unit height is really trim compared to some other models A little more background: - Just as an FYI. I did a lot of testing & troubleshooting in order to confirm & isolate the problem. The cables (I tested multiple cables) are fine in isolation. The Mac works in dual display mode flawlessly prior to inserting the KVM into signal chain. - I don't even ask this KVM to handle Keyboard & Mouse. Just - switch video. - I confirmed (as I said above) that the cables being used are proper spec. They are 4K. They are 60 Hz. They are correct directionally in terms of the conversion > Thunderbolt to HDMI - Made sure both monitors are set to the same display settings... - None of it matters. It's a bummer.
