  • Life Saver!
Size: USB2.0 HDMI KVM Switch 4 In 2 Out
As a system architect, I understand the importance of seamless multitasking across multiple computers and systems. Time is precious for any system architect, and if you spend a lot of time plugging and unplugging cables and running It's definitely not worth it to move your butt between multiple computers. My wife often frowns and says to me "Oh my God, look at your cables, they're a mess of spaghetti" and "Look at your desk, please clean up your cable jungle." Until I got this TESmart KVM Switch, it is a life saver. This KVM switch is a game-changer for anyone managing complex computing environments. It offers a host of benefits that have transformed the way I work, and I believe it can do the same for you: Effortless Multitasking: With the Dual Monitor HDMI KVM Switch, I can effortlessly switch between different computers with a simple keystroke. This has eliminated the need for multiple monitors and keyboards cluttering my workspace, making it not only more organized but more efficient. Increased Productivity: Time is precious for any system architect, and this KVM switch has saved me valuable seconds, if not minutes, each time I switch between systems. No longer do I have to physically switch cables or navigate complex software interfaces. This KVM switch offers rapid transitions, allowing me to focus on what truly matters - designing and managing systems. Enhanced Workstation Flexibility: Whether you're using Windows, Mac, or Linux, this KVM switch supports a wide range of operating systems, making it incredibly versatile for system architects working with diverse platforms, beacause I need to use different operating systems for various program tests. Dual Monitor Support: The dual monitor capability is a game-changer. I can now have two screens connected to each computer, offering a larger workspace for my multitasking needs. This is particularly valuable when I'm working on complex projects that require constant cross -referencing. Flawless 4K Video Quality: The HDMI support ensures impeccable 4K video quality, making it ideal for design work or situations where pixel-perfect clarity is paramount. Effortless Setup: Setting up the KVM switch is a breeze, and it's compatible with a wide array of USB peripherals, including printers and external hard drives. Reliable L/R output: Most kvm switches on Amazon don’t support a L/R output, but this one does, which is an excellent plus. Reliable Performance: The KVM switch has proven to be exceptionally reliable in my daily use. I've never experienced any lag, connectivity issues, or quality degradation, ensuring I can focus on my tasks without interruption. As a system architect with 6 years of work experience, I am still amazed by the zero delay when switching keyboard and mouse between multiple computers,I know that this needs to overcome many technical difficulties, such as synchronization and compatibility, but they did it. If you're in a profession where time and efficiency matter, don't miss out on the opportunity to supercharge your productivity and workflow with this fantastic device. ... show more

  • [HDMI version] Works well, just notes if you have a Dell U2713HM
Size: USB2.0 HDMI KVM Switch 4 In 2 Out
First a quick note: I got in contact with seller about this and the reply was fast, but I ended up figuring myself. The issue is the monitors I have, the KVM works properly. This review is specific if you have a Dell U2713HM monitor and might be useful if you have a non usual problem in your hands. I have a pair of Dell U2713HM which has DVI-D (dual link), HDMI and DisplayPort and it does 2560x1440 at 41Hz. I was using one of these monitors with the previous KVM (iogear that supports DVI-I which is dual link + analog) which supports only one monitor and the second monitor was connected directly to one of the machines over DisplayPort. While migrating to this KVM I'd not get more than 1920x1080. I used the provided cables from KVM to machines and two HDMI cables I had to the monitors. Three machines connected: one with DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors; second a docking station with one DisplayPort option for first monitor and DisplayPort/HDMI options for second; third a computer with DisplayPort, DVI and two mini DisplayPort. Reading the EDID information (get-edid | parse-edid) while connected on the KVM or directly to the monitors is the same (KVM just copies it, that's why the seller tells you to try to connect directly while troubleshooting): Section "Monitor" Identifier "DELL U2713HM" ModelName "DELL U2713HM" VendorName "DEL" # Monitor Manufactured week 4 of 2013 # EDID version 1.3 # Digital Display DisplaySize 600 340 Gamma 2.20 Option "DPMS" "true" Horizsync 30-81 VertRefresh 56-76 # Maximum pixel clock is 170MHz #Not giving standard mode: 1280x800, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1680x1050, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1152x864, 75Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1600x1200, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1280x1024, 60Hz #Extension block found. The Horizontal sync and vertical refresh ranges are also wrong and lower than what the monitor can do. While looking up online, I found reports of people with the exact same problem using 2560x1440 on this monitor over HDMI with some reporting success. The Dell answer is simply "this monitor doesn't support 1440p over HDMI" which is of course baffling since it was sold as supporting it. EDID reports that my monitors were both produced in 2013 so it's possible Dell figured this out and fixed on new monitors or they fixed with their Windows utility (or even overrided the EDID with a new .inf). So there're two options: one is getting a DisplayPort to HDMI converter on the right direction (yeah, I had no clue they have directions until I tried a bunch of adapters I have here to find out none of them work between monitor and HDMI cable but do work between video card and hdmi cable) or you can use DVI. Since I'm waiting for the proper adapter, I grabbed a pair of DVI-D dual link to HDMI converters I have. Because DVI doesn't have EDID, the report has no modelines: Section "Monitor" Identifier "DELL U2713HM" ModelName "DELL U2713HM" VendorName "DEL" # Monitor Manufactured week 4 of 2013 # EDID version 1.3 # Digital Display DisplaySize 600 340 Gamma 2.20 Option "DPMS" "true" Horizsync 29-113 VertRefresh 49-86 # Maximum pixel clock is 280MHz #Not giving standard mode: 1280x800, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1680x1050, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1920x1200, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1152x864, 75Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1600x1200, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1280x1024, 60Hz #Not giving standard mode: 1920x1080, 60Hz Modeline "Mode 0" +hsync -vsync EndSection but notice the horizontal sync and vertical refresh. So now you can add the modeline manually: ----- xrandr --newmode "2560x1440" 162.00 2560 2608 2640 2720 1440 1443 1448 1468 +hsync +vsync # 40.57 for i in HDMI-0 DisplayPort-0; do xrandr --addmode $i 2560x1440 done xrandr --output HDMI-0 --left-of DisplayPort-0 --mode 2560x1440 --dpi 96 --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 2560x1440 --dpi 96 ----- and it works. Problem with this approach is that you don't have audio. ... show more
