Overall this tenor sax mute does not impede your playing or muffle your sound too much. It won't let you be able to play in the middle of the night and not wake the baby, but it will tone down the playing just a bit. This mute fit in my bell alright, not too tight

    • Inexpensive and thin
To no fault of the seller, this came crushed. I don't hold that against them. The felt on the side wasn't secured well and not neatly. Where you don't want a lot of added weight, the metal felt very thin. When initiating the return, communication with Amazon said they would refund the cost and it wasn't necessary to return the item. The credit was applied, then removed. When I contacted Amazon, they said the seller would contact me. They contacted me via email, and tried to remedy the situation (which really wasn't much of a situation) but I kept telling them, I only wanted the refund. Not another mute.
