  • Not the right tank for a Coleman CT200u-ex
First and foremost, I don't like the gas cap. You can't remove the key from the cap without locking it, which is to say, you can't leave the gas cap unlocked...unless you leave the key in it. Now onto the fitment/technical stuff. I made it fit, but I had to fabricate mounts, and overall I find it's a bit to long and a bit too large. I can't go full lock either way with the handlebars as they hit the tank. I don't have the factory seat, I have a cafe racer seat, with the front of the seat mounted exactly where the factory seat sits, and it overlaps the back edge of the tank, but I still have to sit farther back than I'd like. The notch for the frame underneath the tank is meant for a single tube frame, not the ct200uex's twin tube/v frame so even with plenty of hammer reshaping the backend still won't sit as low as I'd like. The tank is 18 inches long plus an inch of flat metal on the back for a mount. The front mount built into the front underside of the tank is a C shaped receiver meant to lock into a rubber, frame mounted bushing(standard mount for the style of motorcycle this tank fits). This is NOT a plug-and-play gas tank, there's a fair bit of fabricating required to make it fit, and in my opinion it's not a great choice. Overall, solid gas tank, seems well made. Stood up to a significant amount of hammer reshaping with no broken seams or cracks in the metal. I was using a nylon faced hammer, but I wasn't being gentle. 4 stars. ... show more

  • Fits on a Hawk250!!!
Bought this tank to turn my Hawk250 into a retro scrambler. I know, but I wanted a 50's scrambler, and I only had a couple grand to play with. I knew that as soon as it arrived, I would be firing up the grinder, sparking up the welder and that I'd be in for hours of cutting and welding to get it to fit right. Guess what? During the initial fitting, it sat down over the frame like a cowboy on his trusty steed. And soon as I slid it onto the frame, the tank mounts lined up and snugged into place. Hmmm....closer inspection. The only thing that didn't line up was the hole for the bolt. That was an easy fix with a titanium bit and Mr. Dewalt. I read a couple of reviews that said the tank leaks. I dunno if QC is schizo on them, or people don't know how to work a gas tank. I've had it on my bike for a week now, and it's held up. No gas going anywhere but the carb. The petcock works flawlessly. I lost use of my fuel gauge when hooking this one up, as this doesn't have a float in it, and my bike had some digical, electrotomical doohickey anyway, but no big. I just...you know, keep gas in it. You'll want to clean it up for painting. It ships with a cosmoline-like grease on it to prevent corrosion. I went over it with gasoline and a rag, let it dry, then went over it with stripper. Then I cajoled my daughter into going over it with some 80 grit sandpaper, followed by a 200 grit sanding sponge. A few coats of flat black rustoleum, and it looks like...well, an old black gas tank. Which is what I wanted. I'm sure you could have this thing painted cherry red, gloss black, or airbrushed with your waifu if you wanted, and it would look awesome. For the price, can't be beat. Looks good, looks vintage as heck, and works. ... show more

  • Nice, but needs much mods to fit most bikes.
The tank will rust fairly quickly unless pampered. I ended up just putting a clear coat on base metal. I like the beaten/hammered look. And cheaper than a pro paint job. (I'm broke) I will probably order another for a different bike. Does require manly garage skills and fitment. Not a turn-key tank for most bikes. ... show more

  • Modifications
The tank came in 1 week earlier than it should’ve so that’s a plus. I’m mounting this tank to a 86 Honda Rebel 250. I did have to cut the 3 mounting tabs off my original tank and fabricate and weld them to the new tank. After a little bit of welding, fabbing and some paint, I give this tank 3.5/5. Only flaws are it’s a little undersized than I expected. It also has a huge grind mark down the seam of the tank to remove excess weld buildup, but primer and paint will take care of that. It did include the cap, keys, and brand new petcock. Tank gets the job done though and looks better than the original. I recommend this tank if you have some welding and fabrication experience. If not, then find the OEM tank for your machine, as this one will just be a pain in the butt✌️ ... show more

  • Works as it should
Only reason for the 1 star deduction is it's unfinished nature began surface rusting immediately but that's nothing some prep and paint can't fix

  • Beat tank buy far for the price point
When you need a good affordable gas tank for a motor cycle or mini bike you will not find a better deal

  • Good tank.
The only downside to this tank is that when you screw the gas cap on it puts a scratch around the face of the tank.
