As someone who suffers from issues with flicker and PWM on OLED and Amoled screens I thought I would give this phone a try and have been pleasently suprised! No issues what so ever and the phone feels like a much high quality phone then the price would let you believe. I havent spend much time in e-reader or paper ink mode other then just seeing what it looks like. The phone is very responsive and snappy! so far so good!

Great phone for the price. Very easy set up and transfer of data from my Samsung. Could not justify the cost of new phones today and was pleased to find this outstanding product at a fraction of the cost. Love the nextpaper technology as I read a lot and I'm happy to be able to use my phone as an ereader with much less blue light. This phone has all the newest technology at a fraction of the price compared to the fruit company and other androids I've used in the past.

I have tried several Matte Screen Protectors over the years. I usually take them off within a day or two because they are irritating. The NxtPaper screen is amazing. No Glare! So easy on the eyes for long periods. The phone operates so buttery smooth. Great companion!

The TCL NXTPAPER has some really cool features, especially the large low-glare matte display. The screen looks good and has a paper-like feel when scrolling, which is different from a normal glossy phone screen. My favorite feature is the physical button that switches the display into the paper-like monochrome mode. That mode looks really nice for reading and makes the phone feel almost like a phone/e-reader hybrid. The phone charges fast, and performance has been good for normal use. The camera is also really good, especially considering the price range. The biggest downside is the speakers. They are okay, but not great. Compared side by side with a higher-end flagship phone, the speakers sound cheaper and are missing some richness. That may not matter if you mostly use earbuds, but it is noticeable. Overall, the display is the reason this phone stands out. The speakers are the main weak point for me.

I have needed a new cell phone for quite a while, so when I saw “Android Phone Unlocked, 128GB Storage,” I hit request without reading anything else about this TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro Cell Phone. Turns out that this may be the perfect phone for someone like me who has low vision, but loves to read and prefers a matte screen with a paper like appearance. As long as it can do this and make phone calls, I am happy! I haven’t put it through its paces completely yet, but here are the things I have learned: • It is a 5G phone with 8GB RAM with up to 16GB expandable RAM for 24GB total and 128GB of internal storage expandable to a ridiculous 2TB (!!!) via a microSD which I could never afford to buy, as they cost more than this phone, but it is nice to have the option. • It has dual sims and supports esim, but the latter is not compatible with my cell phone carrier though they did say it may be possible to connect it if I ever need to. • There is a 50MP main camera and 32MP front camera which take decent pictures. • The screen is 6.9" which is the biggest phone I’ve ever owned, but it is also super light and fits well in my petite hands. • I was surprised that this budget phone came with a clear plastic protective cover for the back, as no phone I’ve ever purchased has come with this feature. • The box also included a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and a couple of instruction books. • There is no wireless charging, so you will need an adapter should you wish to utilize such a feature. • I have not used and am not interested in the AI tools, so I cannot speak to their functionality I absolutely love the matte screen and the dedicated NXTPAPER Key (side slider button) to enter Max Ink mode for immersive reading, Standard mode for normal everyday use, Color Paper mode for comics/digital art and Ink Paper mode for comfortable reading. Max Ink and Ink Paper are my favorites as they offer the same look and fell thanks to the matte screen as my Kindle Oasis without having to change devices. It also makes it easier for me to focus on reading online. The TCL Eye Care Assistant is also cool and you can enable a setting that will make you take a break when you’ve been using your phone for a specific amount of time; it actually sets a timer and keeps you from using the screen. TCL is a new brand for me and I am still getting used to this phone and learning about its features and the updated Android OS that I am unfamiliar with, but it seems like a great phone so far. It is an economically priced at $299.99 and worth giving a try.

Screen Technology and Outdoor Use The standout feature of this phone is the matte anti-glare panel. It completely eliminates reflections, which is a massive advantage when using the device outside in bright sunlight. The screen measures 6.9 inches and features a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, but the paper-like finish is what truly sets it apart from standard glossy smartphones. You do not need to install a third-party matte screen protector to get rid of the glare, it is built right into the hardware. The physical dimensions are 3.16 inches by 6.67 inches with a slim thickness of 0.32 inches, and it weighs in at 207 grams. It has a solid, well-balanced feel in the hand, though I highly recommend getting a protective case for it right away to safeguard the chassis. Hardware and Battery Efficiency The phone is equipped with 256GB of onboard storage and an impressive memory configuration that uses virtual RAM expansion to keep things running fast. Battery life is stellar thanks to the 5200mAh capacity, but the real magic is the dedicated physical switch on the side of the device. Flipping this switch instantly toggles the phone into a low-power paper display mode. When the phone is fully charged, using this mode can extend your total battery life to nearly 60 hours. This is an incredibly useful alternative to using Airplane mode when you are out and about and simply need to conserve your battery juice without completely shutting off your connectivity. Camera Performance The 50MP camera system is a noticeable step up and handles tricky lighting situations beautifully. It features powerful backlighting capabilities that are much easier to toggle than on my previous device, allowing it to pull clear details out of dark, shaded areas without blowing out the rest of the image. The user interface includes a convenient one-touch zoom and a dedicated Macro setting for close-up shots. The focus is consistently sharp, and the camera optics handle direct glare exceptionally well while also offering full 4K video recording. Software Experience Out of the box, the Android operating system does come with several pre-installed bloatware apps, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and a handful of casual games or streaming utilities. Fortunately, the system is completely unlocked in this regard, allowing you to easily uninstall these extra applications right away to clean up your storage and app drawer. Value and Summary As a whole, this device represents a fantastic, nice upgrade for me. The combination of the anti-glare display, the exceptional battery conservation features, and the improved low-light camera performance makes it a highly capable everyday driver. If you spend a lot of time outdoors and are tired of squinting at a reflective screen, this is an excellent choice.

I am a huge fan of this phone, but im not sure its for everyone. I would recommend this for an android user who doesnt need flagship phone specs. If you want midrange phone that has great battery life, a display thats easy on the eyes (bonus if youre an ebook reader), and prefer android I think this is a perfect fit for you. You will be able to play some games, watch Netflix, communicate like you're used to but spec wise it compares to Samsung A series phones or id say around Galaxy S21 S20 flagships. But for the price, this phone is great value with a few little quirks. The e ink display is really neat and im finding im using this phone as small tablet more than for phone calls. This is my first phone that has a fingerprint reader on the side button which I thought was a nice touch I wasnt used to. I also like that TCL included a slim case. My biggest gripe about this phone for apps are that folders are not allowed in the app drawer. Its my biggest peeve on some android phones and part of why samsung are my primary device. You will have to you use folders on the home screen or just search for them in the app drawer which drives me crazy. But its a small feature that I can easily overlook as a backup phone. I still give this phone 5 stars just because of the display features, how light it feels, and great battery life.

The NXTPAPER display is the main reason to buy this phone, and it genuinely delivers a different experience than a traditional smartphone screen. The anti-glare finish and paper-like viewing modes make reading articles, ebooks, and long documents much more comfortable than on a typical glossy OLED display. I found myself using the various NXTPAPER modes more than expected. The dedicated button makes it easy to switch between a standard smartphone experience and a more e-reader-like interface depending on what you're doing. If you spend a lot of time reading, browsing forums, or consuming written content, the display is a legitimate differentiator. That said, you should go into this phone understanding that you're buying it for the screen first and everything else second. The cameras, performance, battery life, and overall feature set are perfectly adequate, but the NXTPAPER display is what makes this device stand out in a crowded smartphone market. It's not going to replace a flagship phone from Apple or Samsung in terms of raw performance or camera quality, but that's not really the point. TCL has created something unique for people who value eye comfort and reading experience above benchmark scores. If that sounds like you, the NXTPAPER concept is surprisingly compelling in day-to-day use.
