The Nxtpaper 70 Pro is a great phone if you place a premium on eye care features. I’m very PWM sensitive and have no issues with this phone. Performance (non-gaming) is fairly snappy. The camera is pretty good vs other similar priced phones. One knock against this phone is the brightness level outdoors, and you do need to crank it up a bit, but I haven’t found that to be a big deal and there are no issues with brightness indoors. Battery is fine although Android Auto, which is a drain on most devices, hits this one particularly hard. It works great on Verizon with a sim card that was activated in another device. If you plan on activating with Verizon via eSIM, I’d be prepared for a bumpy ride at least for now. Of note: Wifi and Bluetooth work great but have a slightly shorter range than most other devices. TCL has some aggressive battery/app management so if this causes issues for you, I’d search around online for fixes as they do help significantly. There are not any very good cases available, the best you’ll be able to do is find a passable one. Although calls are fine, if you stream music through your phone’s speakers the results are mediocre at best. TCL’s customer service is horrible so if you think you’ll need to reach out to them at some point in the future, I’d look elsewhere. I’m giving five stars as I place a high premium on a flicker free experience. If you do too, it’s hard to find a better phone for the price.

Loved the phone, it works and looks amazing also a great price. But I couldn't transfer anything from my iPhone unfortunately. I have way too much stuff on my phone to start over. Mostly all of my messages won't transfer which is a lot of them are important to me and too much to screenshot. Lastly, it's nice that it has an eSIM option. It's much easier, cheaper, and quicker to use eSIM.

The NXTPAPER switch is incompatible with custom home screens. When you flip the switch, it sets your home screen to the Google launcher (or a modified version of it). I use a custom launcher, so I avoid the NXTPAPER switch completely. 120fps screen is great. Navigation is very smooth. I use the phone in grayscale (through the accessibility settings, not the NXTPAPER modes), and I love love love the matte screen. Still doesn't quite read like an e-reader, but it's a very nice screen. Headphone jack and microSD card slots are a big plus. (Most people have poor-person phones, because the manufacturer assumes the user is too poor to own either headphones or a microSD card. This is a rich-person phone because it knows that I have the money for both.) Battery life is pretty good, but that's really from modern Android locking down background processes. Plays Dreamcast and PSP pretty good. Sonic Adventure 2 runs great; Sonic Adventure 1 is shaky; Rez is unplayable. Beware, quality cases are not available for this phone. The only reputable case available for this phone is from AXS, but they don't sell the case directly to US customers. I bought my case from AXS through a forwarder, and it cost me ~$90 USD to do so. Most people are going to try to make this phone work with a 'cheap chinese crap' case, and most cheap cases don't cover the huge circular camera bump. TCL walked away from this circular camera bump design with the next generation, and it's going to make cheap cases much more viable for the 70-series.

I'm going to be hypercritical with this review. Yes... Coming from a Samsung feels like a downgrade, or is the playing field level with TCL products? As a preface, I've owned this phone for several weeks now. The more I use it, the more I realize it's more of a Kindle slash reading device more than an actual communication tool. I wouldn't consider this a selling point, but ultimately if you read pdf files on a regular basis, this is your next phone. Let's talk about the cool battery saving function that transforms the UI into a black & white canvas. Pressing the middle button on the right side of the phone activates the ink feature that basically puts your entire phone into black & white energy retention mode, which supposedly is also best for your eyesight if you do a ton of reading. Add the stylus for the NXTPAPER 70, I'm sure you'll have a field day notating important numbers and schedule changes like you're Sherlock Holmes. From a visual standpoint... At first glance, the phone is big, as it is wide... Which gets points from us people with bigger hands, and the INCLUDED clear hard case earns a big ⭐ as well. The biggest standout feature about the NXTPAPER 70 is the matte finish screen. I love how fingerprints and smears are completely non-existent with this phone, and it does really set the bar high for other manufacturers to follow suit. Overall user experience has been par for course. The latest Android and AI features are pre-installed. Apps are quick and responsive, as they should be. I've deducted 1 star ⭐ for the quirky app management that doesn't seem to understand when the user wants to close out an app. I've also deducted another star for the left swipe sub-menu that seems to always get confused when you're handling an important task like ordering, or something menial like adding to a cart. If you swipe left mistakenly, or happen to swipe at a downward left angle, your actions are deleted and you're taken completely by surprise and closed out of your app. This is very frustrating, but it's not a deal breaker, hopefully it gets addressed in an update. Someone mentioned the sound quality isn't that great with the NXTPAPER 70 in a previous review... The sound is actually concise, loud, and clear, easily a B in terms of clarity. The camera takes photos, it doesn't have any fancy backings from the big names. Photos are crisp & clear that offer mid-tier resolution. Overall the phone gets a C+. I'm a bare minimalist phone user and the phone suits me well, and it even has an input for my planar IEM's which I'm thankful still exist in a crowded world full of Bluetooth connectivity. Recommend this to your friend who loves to read content. Other than that... The NXTPAPER 70 is your slightly above average mobile node.

I’ve been using this phone for everyday tasks, and it has handled everything from browsing and streaming to messaging without any issues. The large display looks sharp, and scrolling feels smooth. The color of the ohone is my favorite and the screen is comfortable to look at for longer periods. The battery easily gets me through a full day of regular use before needing a recharge. The camera takes clear, detailed photos in good lighting, and the phone responds quickly when switching between apps. It also feels solid in the hand without being overly heavy. This phine has been a dependable smartphone that offers a nice combination of performance, battery life, and a high quality display for everyday use.

I have had this phone for 5 days, its a really great phone. I love the screen, I can use it as my e-reader and easily see the ebooks in any lighting conditions. The case that comes with it isn't good, it doesnt protect the sides or screen. I'm looking for a different case for it, but I truly enjoy this phone, and love that I can expand storage with a micro SD card up to 2TB!

It's an interesting phone in terms of you having the ability the use it as a regular color phone (non-reflective screen), a black and white phone for less strain on the eyes, or a full-on e-ink type device for better battery life. But good luck getting phone service if you want to use the e-sim on it! The phone says it has e-sim capability and a place in settings to add one. But I tried one service - they have no record of this phone and will not allow it to be attempted. Another service? Says the IMEI number on this is "locked". Another? "No e-sim capability for this device". So it might be a nice phone if I could put service on it! Decent battery, interesting display, good price, but if you can't put phone service on it, it's basically just a small wifi only tablet. On some other "not ready for prime time" observations, though: Even when the adaptive brightness is turned OFF, the display in color mode will go dim and bright, up and down, on it's own. Even when you manually adjust it and leave it, with again, the adaptive option off, it still does this. The screen looks fine otherwise when viewing straight-on, but when viewed at even the slightest angles, it dims quickly. The phone also warms up quickly when doing even basic things for a short period of time - it doesn't get "hot", but gets noticeably warm quick. I'll update this if things change, but between the varied small glitches on this phone and the inability to use e-sim with any of the several services I TRIED to sign up for, I cannot recommend this at this time.
