  • Awesome Television
Size: 40 in Style: Android TV
This is a beautiful television. It's actually the second one I've purchased. The picture quality is amazing. The same with the sound quality I'd never need a sound bar. My first one was bought about five years ago. It was a wonderful television until my son who happens to be disabled turned in on and off like a million times in one minute. That television bugged out for a few days. I did everything even contacted TCL directly and the situation couldn't be remedied . Thank GOD I had purchased the insurance. Amazon credited me and I was able to get another one but bigger for just a few dollars more. When the new one arrived the first one stopped bugging and I put it in my son's room and it was great for about a year. I just got this 40" for my son's room because this brand of television is the only one I love. It's excellent! It's an Android television and it runs very smoothly I recommend this brand to everyone I can. The preinstalled apps are excellent no need for a fire stick. The quality is so excellent that the price is a steal. I plan to buy one more for my dining room. ... show more

  • Great TV at this price
Size: 40 in Style: Android TV
Setup went pretty well and is easier if you have a google account already as it pulls data from there to setup the TV. Works off the Wifi fine without any issues. There is some lag periodically when scrolling through generally when it has to load data. This may be more a connection issue and not the TV itself. No issues with lag when show is running. Picture quality is fine and have it in an area without glare anyway so cant really comment. No issues with mounting it as this TV is really pretty light. Would recommend this TV if you need a smaller screen for a space as this does a great job particularly for the price point. ... show more

  • So excited about this TV
Size: 40 in Style: Android TV
I bought this TV to replace my 2015 Samsung 32 inch which I use in the garage when I am on the treadmill. I watch music concerts for inspiration. I have never had a TCL TV before and am really astounded by the quality for the price. In addition, my Samsung remote had delayed response and you had to push the buttons hard. The TCL remote is so easy to use and is VERY responsive. The picture is really good for a cheap TV. I was able too go into settings and play around with the picture to get what ideal image I desired. The sound is fantastic too, surprisingly. I am connecting it to Bluetooth speakers to get a more surround stereo sound but the TV sound on its own may be sufficient for some. The layout and apps are very easy to use too. Overall I am very pleased with this TV. Highly recommended if you want a great cheap 2nd TV. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth the upgrade over the Roku version
Size: 40 in Style: Android TV
I received this TV as a replacement since my previous order vanished, and the upgrade is worth it. Previously I've bought and owned 2 of the Roku versions of this TV, and the difference is night and day. - First off, the images on the Android version are crisper, and there is less screen glare on the coating. - Wifi connectivity is stable. The Roku version since day 1 has been plagued with random Wifi disconnects. - Best TV for non-US residents. Unlike the Roku version, hardly any of the apps are region-locked and with the accessibility to the android store, you have access to Twitch AND can even use the Zoom app / Google Meets app for sitting in meetings (haven't been able to allow those apps to use the microphone on the remote) - Sync and Casting from your phone is a plus. Many times I've started watching a Youtube video on my phone, and unlike the Roku version, the Android TV version allows you to continue from where you left off seamlessly. All in all, this version is miles better than the Roku version. ... show more

  • Terribly Weak on Many Fronts
Size: 40 in Style: Android TV
I was in need of a 40 inch TV to fit a space in my home. I needed network capabilities as I use streaming services. And I want a clean and intuitive interface to allow anyone in the family to operate the television. I soon found out that you cannot find many options in the 40 inch size. And I could not fit anything more than a 40 inch diagonal. Reviews appeared positive for the TCL. So despite having no familiarity with the brand, I thought I would try it. First, the WiFi is a very antiquated 802.11n so bandwidth is limited, even with a strong signal (140 - 170 MB/s). WiFi performance has been extremely disappointing (40 - 80 MB/s) And I had a 49 inch Samsung in use prior to redecorating, and that set had flawless WiFi. So I attached a CAT6 cable (although I was sure the set did not have GB Ethernet). But it seems that Ethernet must be 10 Base-T, as I was seeing only 16 - 18 MB/s. That is 1980/90s technology! I find the interface to be lacking in features and flexibility. And since the processing power is weak, working through menu after menu to move between streaming channels can be frustrating. YouYube TV may be a demanding app. And it's performance is abysmal on this TCL. The app takes forever to load, and occasionally it crashes at first. Then video playback freases, buffered, and even may crash. Other streaming services are not so impacted. Although there have been a few video issues. I attached my Roku Streaming Stick, and most issues are gone, but one. I now get lags in starting Roku. The HDMI 2 does not wake up fast enough to recognize the connected Roku right away. And on many occasions Roku would not load because it could not detect HDCP on HDMI port 2. Are you kidding me!? Why can't there be a modern top end 40 inch TV? I have been struggling to get a reliable streaming experience from the limited technology of this TV. Cord cutting made painful. Out of the box, the processor barely performs well enough to stream. YouTube TV freezes, buffers and crashes repeatedly. My WiFi signal is strong, albeit only 150-175 Mbps. But Netflix reports that this Wireless-n is connecting at only 70-80 Mbps. Connecting to my CAT6 Ethernet is a dismal 15-20 Mbps (10-Base-T, seriously?). Roku Streaming Stick+ can run circles around the TV, but I have to use the HDMI-1 ARC for my sound bar (internal speakers are terrible), and HDMI-2 signal is repeatedly blocked by Roku for not supporting a HDCP signal. What have I purchased? ... show more
