I went in for a laser tattoo removal on one tattoo before I tried it on another one just to see how it felt. Of course it was painful and I couldn’t even imagine doing my larger tattoo. I was recommended this to try before going in for the next one. I was hesitant but read reviews. Even so I figured why not just see what happens. I did a test a couple days before my appointment. I made sure to apply a thick layer then wrapped it tightly with saran wrap. I timed it for 1 hour before removing the wrap. After wiping off the excess I could immediately feel a change in skin. Repeating it again, I applied another layer and wrapped again. It made me so numb I couldn’t even feel the cold from an ice pack. So I gave in and went ahead with the appointment. My appointment was at 11 that morning so I did the first layer around 8:30, the 2nd at 9:30. Giving it enough time to settle in each hour. I was so nervous it wouldn’t work but it did. I felt it but it was not painful. Not at all like the first time without any numbing. I am pleasantly surprised and relieved it worked. This product definitely helped numb the area. I recommend applying generously and wrapping it so you don't stain your clothes. I usually apply about an hour before heading to my tattoo appointment so that by the time I get there, my artist and I can talk about the work and then it's clean and he can go to town. It lasts about 2 hours into the tattoo, so keep that in mind. My artist has numbing spray that works on an open tattoo that he can apply if it's getting spicy. I used to think you had to just tough it out, but man, the inside of the arm definitely needs numbing cream. :) ... show more

This is the third product I’ve tried and definitely my favorite. It got me through a 3.5 hour session on my thigh, with the pain gradually fading in about 1.5-2 hours in. Absolutely perfect product for taking the edge off. Smells neutral, easy to apply - slap it on SO THICK before wrapping with Saran Wrap. 5 stars for sure ... show more

I was skeptical about how well it would work, and was not looking forward to how much my tattoo on my leg would hurt. So I bought this just to try it out. I used it in a medium sized area, but my tattoo ended up being a little larger than the area I had applied the cream to. On the numb area, I just felt pressure, but no pain. On the areas where the skin was not numb, it was definitely a little spicy. I am pretty heavily tattooed already, and am used to the feeling of being tattooed. There are a few areas I want tattooed, but was scared of how badly it would hurt. I will 100% use this again on those sensitive areas. It worked great! ... show more

I applied this numbing cream an hour before my session, worked like a charm for a while. Didn't feel anything. After we took a break about an hour in, I felt basically everything, with there only being like one spot on my arm the numbing cream was still working at. I left it on for 45 minutes like the jar said, but maybe leaving it on for over an hour would've helped. Also do note that after I applied the numbing cream it caused a rush that lasted for about 15 minutes. Either way, still worked somewhat. Decent product. ... show more

Bought this product almost 2 months ago but wanted to wait until I actually tried it before reviewing. The instructions say apply a thick layer and leave for roughly 2 hours. I was in a rush so I only left it for about an hour. That was around 8:30pm. By midnight, the portion of my skin I had covered was still almost completely numb!! Works so well, I'm surprised you don't need a prescription. I genuinely had to ask the artist if he had started tattooing, he thought I was being funny. The numbing relief seems to penetrate pretty deeply too because I couldn't even feel the pressure of him applying the stencil, I had no idea he had even placed it on me. 12/10 stars. Will be using for every single tattoo from now on ... show more

    • Good for short tattoo appointments
I put the cream on my thigh at about 9, and my appointment was at 11. It worked super well until 1, when it wore off. I think when people are saying it doesn't last as long as it says it does, they are not factoring in the time they initially put the cream on, to the time it wears off. You don't start the clock when you take the cream off, you start it when you first apply it. I think it works better to not put plastic wrap over the area either. If you can just put a thick layer of the cream, and keep that area exposed until your appointment, you will get the best result. I tried it on my calf as well, with plastic wrap, and the plastic wrap just moved the cream around, making it less effective. please also note, everyone has a different pain tolerance, and metabolism, so it may not work as well, or may wear off more quickly. I think this cream is best for 2 hour sessions, or if you wait until only 30 minutes to and hour before your appointment, then you will get more time out of it. ... show more

This stuff is crazy good. The effects for pain relief is 10/10. Super easy to put on, I left it on for about 2 hours and my skin was numb for around 5 hours. Hardly felt any pain at all! I suggest putting a good amount onto the area to be tattooed then wrapping in plastic wrap for a couple hours. Highly recommend! ... show more
