  • Worked great
We are laying laminate floor in our basement and needed a tapping block and spacers. Grabbed this in preparation for the fun that was waiting for us. This was the first time we have laud flooring so wasn’t really sure what we needed but knew we’d need a tapping block. Went to the store to get the flooring and grabbed some spacers and pry bar. I knew this set came with spacers but figured we’d need more and thought these looked cheap. I opened the ones I got from the store and quickly realized they weren’t any better than these and at $13/box for the one I bought at the store I switched over to using these and they are just as good. I mean they’re spacers…not sure what I expected. Lol They do the job they’re supposed to do. Love the size of the tapping block too. Wide enough and high enough that when I’m pounding on it with a mallet I don’t miss and smack myself. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Good Tool for Laminate Flooring Work
I ordered this for two upcoming projects, actually. First, I have some laminate flooring left over from a flooring project from over 22 years ago when laminate was a new thing. I held on to them and was about to donate to Habitat for Humanity when I decided I wanted to do a somewhat modified shiplap style wall treatment. After I received sticker shock from pricing wood planking, I decided to try and use this wide board laminate. I'm going to paint the laminate white and leave a gap between the board to have a black contrast. I will pre-drill the laminate, attach to the studs with countersunk screws, and cover with large wrought iron door nail covers that I already have. This tapping block and the spacers will both work perfectly (i think) for the installation). Also, I have stored engineered hardwood flooring planks I bought on sale that I need to install in several rooms, so I will be using this tapping block for that project as well. I haven't decided whether I'll be nailing down that flooring or glueing it, but I think the tapping block will be helpful either way. The tapping block is sturdy and weighty enough, but very comfortable to hold and work with in the minimal testing I've done. Also, I like that I don't have to use a hammer with it which can certainly dent the hardwood if you are careless with it. Good price for this item, too. ... show more

  • Careful! This can damage vinyl plank flooring.
Solid, comfortable to hold, and does the job, however be warned that this tapping block is *not* profiled to the shape of click lock flooring and despite its long flat shape can easily damage the "tongue" or "groove" of such floors if you tap too hard (which I found out the hard way). In such cases you can avoid damage by lifting the tapping block above the fragile part of the floor and using a hammer to tap it against the main body of the vinyl plank. A profiled block tailored to the height of the floor you are installing would do that for you automatically. The included spacers are nothing special but it is nice that they're included. Overall it's still a good product. Tapping blocks with no profile are very common; the damage in this case was my fault. Just be aware of the limitations; a tapping block is less likely to cause damage than a hammer but it won't save you from everything. ... show more

  • Good Quality and Performance
The solid plastic block is a good length and weighs 27 ounces, so it has some heft, as does the plastic handle, which is roomy and comfortable. This does a good job of tapping hardwood or laminate planks together without much effort or risk of tongue damage. The included 20 plastic spacers also are of good quality and are a nice bonus for the price. Though advertised for use with interlocking vinyl plank flooring, those protruding tongues sometimes can be thin, brittle and fragile. The sidewalls of this block are smooth rather than notched, which places all tapping pressure on the tongue, instead of the thicker, stronger vinyl wear layer just above it. Another model I've seen has a notched design with an indentation that protects the tongue and directs the pressure to the vinyl layer. But if need be, you can replicate this by using tacking glue (for easy removal) to secure a thin strip of wood or plastic onto the block... positioned just above the tongue area. The protruding strip will do the tapping without the block touching the tongue. This may not be necessary for flooring with sturdy tongues, so you could try it as-is first to see if there's an issue. ... show more

  • Speeds up install time.
This tapping block sure speeds up the process of installing laminate when compare to my old fashioned kit that required me to hammer each piece in. This tapping block has a good weight to it but isn't too heavy at all. It works well. This one tool does it all. It's so easy to use. The size is perfect. I don't have any complaints with this tapping block. ... show more

  • Great tool!
This saved me while installing lvp flooring. It was the first time I had ever installed flooring so I was going based on an instructional video. I did half the floor with just a mallet and wondered why it was so much harder than the video made it look. I had ordered this as a back up and it showed up just in time to save my sanity. The second half of the floor went so much easier with this. It has a nice weight to it but it didn't damage any of my planks. It was especially useful in the tight spaces near the wall. I turned it on its side and the planks slid easily with just a gentle push. ... show more

  • Solid block
This is a large hard plastic block with a plastic handle. I am planning on having laminate flooring installed. This block will be great for the job. The handyman said it is a standard tool and that it will work just fine

  • Can be used for hardwood floors too
I'm a weekend warrior DIYer. My buddy does construction for a living. I originally got this to put some new floors in the kitchen. This worked great for that, but I wanted to really put this to the test. After 3 weeks and a number of flooring installs, this passes the test. He literally smacked the crap out of this with a hammer for 8-10 hours a day and it's still going strong. Recommend and would order again. ... show more
