It definitely took some effort to put together, but wasn't as terrible as implied by some others. The worst part about the instructions is that it's not always very clear about the board orientation. Still, if a schmuck like me can do it by themselves, I bet most others could as well. Just make sure you have a fair bit of space for assembly and a decent phillips screwdriver. The package I received was missing an item (the coverings to disguise some of the screw holes) and when I submitted a request to have new ones sent, the request was acknowledged and fulfilled promptly. Very good purchase I did this year on the table. The TV is still hooked up on the wall because we already used to have it on the wall. So it is pretty much a coffee table in our living room. Very useful and easy to assemble..

Great entertainment center for our small sitting area upstairs. Would not recommend as a main living center as it does look cheaply made. I bought the fireplace center separately and fits great with this entertainment center! Would recommend for young adults just starting in their own place.
