This product is EXCELLENT. Many self-tanning products are messy and hard to apply evenly, and they often leave unwanted orangeness on your hands. This product has never created that issue for me, and I keep one on hand at all times. I find that I can use one about every week to maintain coverage because the product is high quality, and since the applicator is the cloth it is on, I find that it goes on evenly every time. I also find that I can use the remainder of the product on my arms and neck to ensure I have the tan glow all over. Definitely recommend this product!

If you're looking for a quick, pretty even, and cheap tan, Tan Towels is a great option. The trick is to know how to apply self-tanner, which some people are not familiar with. As a pale person who has used and abused self tanners for a couple of decades, I've learned a few things about how to apply it. Here are a few tips: First - Cleanse and Exfoliate. Be sure your skin is as clean and smooth to ensure an even tan. Also be sure your skin is moisturized! If your skin is dry, chapped or peeling, chances are that the tan will be uneven. Second - Be Quick. As soon as you rip open the packaging, unwrap the towel, lay the sheet flat against your palm and go for the largest areas and move quickly in a circular motion, never letting your hand rest in one area for too long. Third - Broad strokes. Use lots of broad circular strokes so color doesn't distribute too much in one area. Remember to keep that hand moving! Fourth - Let your skin dry. Some people only wait 5-10 minutes and then put their clothes on. Wait longer and let the skin absorb the product before putting on clothes. I recommend loose clothing. Try to keep your skin dry for as long as possible so as not to disturb the tan that's developing. They say it takes a few hours to develop. Be sure to wash your hands immediately afterward with soap and water! If you apply tan towels correctly, you should achieve a pretty even tan. I often use it a day or two in advance for a wedding or special event and people usually assume it's a natural tan from a vacation. Be sure to pick the correct shade as if you pick one a lot darker than yours, there is a chance of getting that orange-y color.

I have used Tan Towels for many years, but the last box I bought on Amazon did not work at all. No color developed. The smell and moisture was there and it seemed the same when applied but there was zero color as a result. Very odd. I will not order these on Amazon again. I have to add that I just called the phone number on the TanTowel box and spoke to a woman who seemed very disinterested. She told me I could call Amazon. I thought she would be more interested in knowing that I received a defective box, but she did not care at all. She tried to tell me that they work for her! I explained again that I have been using this product for many years which indicates that I am very satisfied with the product. After receiving a box which produced zero color, I definitely will not order these Tan Towels again. Don't bother calling the number on the box. The woman was unprofessional and not helpful at all. She was very, very disinterested.

Got these tan towels after a friend recommended them. My least favorite part of self tanners (aside from the orangey tint) is the mess. These were a BREEZE! SO simple to use. There are a million YouTube videos that show you how best to apply, but basically, if you know how to clean yourself off using baby wipes or a washcloth, you can apply this tanner. The scent is not overpowering - more of a fresh, citrus-like scent. I ordered the half body towels, then used two half bodies and had ample “juice” to cover legs, arms, chest, stomach, and neck/face. They sell separate face wipes, but there’s really no difference. I loved the natural glow it gave. If you’re needing a FAST tan, like in an hour or less, this isn’t your go-to. The color on this develops over the course of about 18-24 hours. I was really pleased and will be buying again.

PLEASE - PLEASE stay away from tanning beds and laying in the sun without the proper protection. I had sun spots in my 40's. A Dermatologist told me to stay out of the sun completely. She said I was the worst case she ever seen at my age. She mentioned a few popular stores where I could find sunless self-tanning lotions etc. I won't name the stores or products she recommended but it was the beginning of a long nightmare. My face would turn orange or streaky and can't count the number of embarrassing comments I endured. That was over ten years ago. An old friend I grew up with told me over the phone he and his wife use tan towels. I told him I would give tan towels a try. I had no intentions whatsoever of fooling around with more fake tan stuff. Two years went by making excuses every time we talked on the phone. They live on the east coast and I'm on the west coast. My paleness was always the topic of conversation. One day I decided to take his advice. He did sound convincing. I have no idea why I took the risk of embarrassment and humiliation once again. It turned out to be the best decision of my live in terms of solving a ten year problem. I shouldn't say what I'm about to say because It's not believable. I fooled my own doctor (Cardiologist). He actually told me to stay out of the sun. I told him it was a fake tan. The look on his FACE was disbelief. I buy the half body towels but I only use the tan towels on my face and arms. The rest of my body is not exposed in public and I live alone. I use the same towel twice because I'm only covering my face and arms. I put the towel in a zip lock bag and it stays moist. There's no reason to walk around looking pale anymore. A tan makes people look good and healthy. You should always look your best. I don't know who invented this stuff but he must be a millionaire.
