  • Tamarac has done it again - another satisfied photographer!
Size: Stratus 21
I purchased this Tamarac camera bag to replace my old bag that I had for over 10 years and I need a bigger bag to hold my gear including a new lens I bought last year. It arrived in new condition and at first I was like this bag is huge! I was actually worried cause I didn’t expect it to be so big. I waited a few weeks to try it out before leaving a review. It’s grown on me and I really like it! The zippers are strong and don’t bend when I zip it around the edges snd the bag is very supportive and rigid to hold gear. It won’t spill out. Pros: I love the front pockets that fold down flat to make access much easier to misc gear and accessories. I also like the 2 side “hidden” pockets behind the front pockets. I keep my memory cards and used batteries in the little pouches that came with it. Nice surprise finding those! The interior of the bag is roomy and I found by removing a few dividers I can get all my gear in it. It also hold my DSLR body with vertical grip nicely. Here’s what I was able to stuff in the main compartment: Canon 5d mrkiii with grip 70-200mm 85mm 1.4 24-70mm 50mm 17-35mm Battery charger and cord. Color balance chart (small folded card) Note: It’s not in the photo but I can also store my backup camera 5d mrkii on the other side with no lens attached. The only thing I didn’t put in there was my ttl flash but I can make it fit if need be. Wasn’t a priority for this bag. The only con: I couldn’t get my 15” MacBook Pro in the laptop sleeve, it was 1” too tall. But I could got my iPad mini or I’m betting a regular iPad or smaller MacBook. That is great fir those photogs who travel and do t want to take their laptop bag too! Overall I’m loving this bag. The price was great, free shipping and a little tax. I’m going to get a lot of mileage out of this camera bag. Also the straps are strong and sturdy makes it easy on my back cause with all my gear in there it gets pretty heavy! ... show more

  • Well Utilized Space
Size: Stratus 10
I had an old Canon bag that was gifted to me years ago, and I've slowly outgrown it. I held onto it because I like to run and gun so I don't want to be weighed down with a large bag. I've been shopping for months at the local brick and mortars and a handful of online sites. I didn't know this bag existed until I received one of those 'Gift Idea' emails from another retailer and I began researching it deeper. It's bigger than the old trusty Canon bag, but not by much. However, I'm able to fit: four lenses, two camera bodies, six batteries and their chargers, some filters and other peripherals including my photo gloves (that I used to have to snap to the outside of my old bag) inside. There are many dividers allowing multiple configurations. The zippers are heavy and sturdy. The shell is water resistant and nicely padded for travel, and the pockets all well thought out and organized. The shoulder strap is adjustable and comfortable enough for long days with a nice thick and wide pad for comfort. If I was forced to pick one con, it would be that I wish the tripod straps on the bottom of the bag were longer. I use a traveling tripod that's fairly small and fits inside its own bag. I'm unable to strap the tripod in its bag to the camera bag, so I have to take the tripod out. Even that is a tight fit, leaving very little extra strap, so I don't trust it 100% to secure my tripod if traversing over rocks or uneven terrain. If they'd given me just another two or three inches of strap for my tripod, this bag would be a solid 10. As it stands, I'd give it a 9.8. In summary ... if you're planning on attaching a tripod to the bag, make sure it's a small one. The straps are better suited for a monopod. That being said, I'd highly recommend this bag if you're trying to keep your kit tidy in a bag small enough to throw over your shoulder for a daylong outing, yet large enough to carry your essential gear and then some. ... show more

  • Good Bag, Good QPR, Not Perfect...
Size: Stratus 21
Needed a cam bag to hold two DSLRs and a couple lenses for a trip to Iceland...hunted around the net and came up with this bag... Pros: -holds two DSLRs with lenses attached and space for another couple lenses and lots of other smaller 'stuff'. -seemingly well built -decent price QPR Cons & Nits: -Shoulder strap will not 'stay on' either shoulder regardless of what clothing I have on, or how it is adjusted; continual slippage and strap always ends up twisted or 'wrong way' after setting bag down...maybe it's just me. ;) -Front twin snaps of top cover are angled inward not outward; weird design and it often requires two hands to unsnap/snap those slip in buckles. -Maybe too many little compartments in front pockets, eg film canister carriers, et al. -End pockets are a bit cheesy with a cardboard liner to keep them in shape and a soon to wear out velcro closure. -With two cams, lenses and stuff in/on top level of inside bag, the CG is high vis a vis wearing that ill fitting strap on one's shoulder. I have a ~ 30 yr old bag for one cam/couple three lenses and stuff which is still my go to bag, but this Tamrac is OK to Good for 2 full cams. ... show more

  • Roomy and well laid out camera bag
Size: Stratus 15
This is not a small bag, so if you want something smaller, check lower in the model line. This is basically a photojournalist's bag. Very high quality, very roomy. You can carry a full camera system, with lenses, and flash, plus accessories (including an external tripod strap set). Typical Tamrack design and function (very good). It's customizable to fit your gear, whatever that may be. Up to 70-200 2.8 sized lenses will fit vertically, but you may be able to fit larger lenses horizontally, depending on how you configure the dividers. I love it so far. ... show more
