Yes, it will change the color of what you spray it on, but that matte finish really does look good. Whatever you do, make sure you have GOOD LIGHTING so you can tell if you've got an even coat! To be truthful, I haven't had need for the Flat spray. Just bought it because I will need it eventually and my experience with Tamiya is, they make a product that covers a model easily. Two fine passes over a part and its done.

I paint animal figures and a flat natural look is exactly what is needed. This is the best product out there for that!! No reflection or shine on my paint work at all.

    • Good proective layer, but buy the Gloss or Semi-Gloss variant instead.
The product works as intended, it dries quickly and is easy to apply, just be aware it makes plastic and paint look duller than without it. It does add a nice layer of protection, but it's inferior to the Tamiya Clear Gloss spray paint as well as the Semi-Gloss spray paint variants, at least in my opinion, as they make colors pop vividly, while this product pretty much does the opposite, making colors stand out less. If you don't like a glossy finish, I guess this is the product for you, just be aware that it will take some color away from whatever you apply it to. I applied a coat to a piece of red plastic, which then became a much paler, pinkish color. ... show more

Like all products from Tamiya, it is easy to use and gives a thin coat important for light details. Essentially provides a dull coat over paints and plastics.
