This stand holds my iPad right in front of me while I lie in bed, and it’s super easy to adjust to the exact angle I need. It’s a heavy base, so it won't tip over like other flimsy stands, but it's still easily portable to any spot in the house—you can use it in the kitchen, the bathroom, or even outside! Works almost perfectly. It's very easy to set up and (this is the 3rd stand I've tried) and once I've set the basic viewing angle it's just a matter of collapsing the arms to the side and bringing it back into place in front of me. Although there is a little wiggle in the tablet as I'm tapping on it. It isn't enough to affect my ability to place things accurately. So why not 5 stars? 1) I often have to hold to pole stand to move the tablet to the side and back in front of me. I haven't found a way to loosen it up to make that unnecessary. 2) sort of related to 1. The base is not heavy enough to counter the force of moving the tablet to the side and back, but if it were heavier I'd have trouble moving it. Tip: Don't try to move it holding the tablet itself, it can me up all your adjustments. Hold on to the clamp to move the tablet. 3) it needs one more arm right behind the tablet. The way it's set up you can tilt it down, for instance if you want to watch or read lying flat and looking up but you can't adjust it the other way. I'd like to be able to your the top back for a better reading angle or to reduce a glare. ... show more

Things I Like: I really like how sturdy this floor stand feels once it’s set up. The pond base gives it a solid foundation, so even when my iPad is on it and the arms are fully extended forward, it doesn’t wobble or tip over easily. The wide compatibility with devices ranging from smartphones to big tablets is a huge plus. I really like just how much adjustment this thing has … the height and extension are far better than other versions I have previously used. Things I Don’t Like: The biggest downside is that it’s on the larger and heavier side, which makes it less ideal if you plan to move it between rooms all the time. The assembly, while not complicated, can take a few minutes. Also, because it’s designed more for viewing than typing, the angle isn’t ideal if you want to do a lot of typing on your tablet. Should You Buy It? If you want a dependable, hands free way to use your tablet or phone from a distance — whether it’s for watching shows, video calling, reading, or relaxed browsing — this stand is definitely worth considering. ... show more

Outstanding device. Wife has a favorite chair where she sits and reads from her iPad. She had previously bought a goose-neck device to hold it but it was unsatisfactory as she had to kinda snake her way into the chair (device could not be moved aside) and it would slowly sink. She just could not make it work. So, she found this device as a replacement. I compared it to several similar devices that were anywhere from about a quarter the price to about half the price. The reviews were not as good with complaints about the iPad holder on the end of the arm breaking to other failures. Also, this one has the heaviest base (quoted at 11 lbs) so the tip possibility is reduced over ones that weigh 3 - 5 lbs. (as it turns out the goose-neck one was not all that much cheaper). How does she like it? She absolutely loves it. Holds her iPad exactly where she places it, holds it steady so when she scrolls there is little bounce or jiggle (there is just a little bit as the iPad is on the end of an arm), it pivots out of the way so she can stand or sit easily, and the base is heavy enough there is not even a hint that it might tip. ... show more

This tablet floor stand announces its intentions the moment you lift it out of the box, in the form of sheer, unapologetic weight. That weight, however, is precisely the point: this stand does not tilt, wobble, or surrender to gravity under any circumstances, and for anyone who has watched a lesser stand deposit their iPad onto their face at midnight, that stability feels almost emotional. The arm reaches obligingly toward the bed or armchair and stays exactly where you put it. The caveats, though, are real, particularly given the price, which is not modest. The stand weighs roughly as much as a well-fed housecat, and the spring mechanism that grips the device is so stiff that inserting an iPad feels less like mounting it and more like wrestling it into submission, leaving one genuinely concerned something expensive is about to snap. This is such a helpful stand! I'm older and my arm and shoulder hurt when I hold my tablet for any length of time. This stand is sturdy and easily holds my ipad with the ability to move it in lots of directions to get to the 'sweet spot' for using it without holding it. Base is heavy and I've not felt like it was ever going to tip over. However, it's easily moved around the house to use where I need it. The base also slips under furniture and my bed so not bulky or clumsy when I'm using it. Honestly, I wish I had ordered this a long time ago! Very reasonably priced, too.
