You want to tape something up and not have to wonder if it'll ever come undone? This is the stuff. But beware...IF YOU WANT TO TAPE SOMETHING UP AND NOT HAVE TO WONDER IF IT'LL EVER COME UNDONE, you best believe this will do it. And if it sticks to itself while you're pulling it off the roll, you'll be pulling off some more because the piece you pulled off will be useless. There are lesser duct tapes that you can give a yank to it if it sticks to itself, and you can save that section of it to use. Not this stuff. So, it's kind of a cost-benefit analysis thing. You are certain to waste at least some of it. But the benefit far outweighs that shortcoming. ... show more

The fabric is weak enough to tear by hand (which is handy, since cutting is a gooey mess), strong enough to last much longer than common plastic film with embedded threads. The adhesive is thick and soft, so it glues to rough or pitted surfaces better than common duct tape. However, it's terribly fussy. A whiff of dust, the merest hint of moisture, grease, oil or lipid defeats it. It doesn't adhere less well to less-than-pristine surfaces, it pretends it has no glue at all. It sticks to itself (front to back) pretty well, and to itself (front to front) extremely well, but those aren't usually as useful as sticking to other surfaces would be. Also, the thick soft adhesive means that even when it does stick, the entire tape is vulnerable to being pushed around, skating on its own slime. I've found places where it's excellent, generally where the surface can be scrubbed before and covered after application. OTOH it's disheartening to tape up a cardboard carton that seems perfectly clean (but can't be effectively cleaned), and watch the T-Rex fall off under its own weight as if it were so much satin ribbon. Perhaps a trick I haven't discovered would solve this, but as it stands T-Rex seems ideal only under ideal circumstances, like being able to wipe with acetone and dry with a heat gun before application. Most of the places I've used T-Rex in the 10 months I've been using it, it was later replaced by something less expensive, with less tensile strength, that sticks better. ... show more

I have only had a couple of disappointments over the past 20 years despite the many hundreds of items ordered from Amazon. Unfortunately, the triple-role bundle of T-REX tape I received would not stick to anything other than to itself. And in sticking to itself, it was very difficult to peel from the role, and I had to abandon one role because the tape began to separate its layers, rendering it completely useless. Over the years, duct tape has respectfully earned the nickname of "100mph Tape" for its convenience and ability to hold just about anything together in the roughest of conditions. The original duct tape doesn't deserve having T-REX destroy that excellent reputation! The packaging and appearances upon being received were 100% and since I always do a thorough check on any item I intend to order, I am already well versed on what to expect from each product when put to use. T-REX Ferociously Strong Tape however is a misnomer because it has failed in several ways to live up to the testing shown by the reviewing videos. The reviews rightfully stated that a piece of tape could not be torn off by hand, but that really only makes it more difficult to work with. After snipping a few pieces, remnants of the adhesive begin to stick to the scissors, and now, not only having to exert unusual force to pull out the next section of tape, the scissor blades are now stuck together, requiring more time, and more force or both hands to open the jaws. Incredible! That gets very tiring under strenuous working conditions, especially when a full role or more of tape will be needed for the current job. Sorry to say, this product I received does not live up to the testing shown in the reviews which can also be a result of just making a poor batch that somehow escaped getting detected before shipment, or might even be a result of improper storage before I ever received it. As such, two specific types of duct tape that have never failed to show better results, and what I will once again return to using, are DUCK TAPE and GORILLA TAPE. UPDATE 02/18/23 Updates are not often required, but I think T-Rex deserves a few words of explanation since I last tried to use this tape. Since I live in the sun belt, the temperature in June (when I wrote my review) is well over 100 degrees. Now it is February and the temperature is about 50 degrees. I needed some duct tape and all I had was the leftover T-Rex remnants from when I last tried to use it. To my surprise it worked perfectly, just like anyone would expect from a roll of duct tape. Pulled out perfectly, stuck fine, and completed the task. So all I can conclude is that the temperature when using this tape may be the first consideration. If working in a hot environment you might consider another brand. If in cooler temps, then run with it. The T-Rex has shown to work just fine in cooler temperatures. Sand Man ... show more

A little over 6 months ago, I bought some of this tape and used it to make repairs to a tarp. Fast forward from January, the tarp has ben out in the sun and rain continuously and degenerated to the point of uselessness... but the tape is still in place and holding strong.
