    • No sufficient protection, but only option. Essential w/ Magic Keyboard if iPad is used as tablet
This works, even if it is insufficient. Considering this is the only option out there, it is an essential addition to the iPad Pro, adding the protection lacking when paired with the magic keyboard, and additionally keeping the Apple pencil in it’s place. If you ever want to “safely” use the big investment that is iPad Pro as the tablet it is, and at the same time have the option of using the only keyboard/trackpad out there that doesn’t have major compromises, except being another big investment that won’t allow the iPad to be used as a tablet without detaching it, this is it. It could be more rigid indeed and add more protection when the iPad is on its own, however, without any other options, it works great as advertised, and if the price bothers you, let me know if you find something comparable, because they could have charged a lot more being the one and only compatible option. In regard to any gaps when the iPad is closed in the Magic Keyboard, consider your screen protector and the added thickness. Apple didn’t leave any room for more than a naked iPad really. Not wanting to sacrifice my tempered glass protector, the little gap doesn’t even bother me and the weight of the iPad pretty much takes care of it. I never notice and I could just do the PEX protector they recommend. The port opening for charging directly at the iPad is also just big enough for the standard Apple cable. Other cables only slightly larger wont fit. Fortunately, the keyboard is the only way I charge it now, that being practically wireless, and again the only product other than the Smart Keyboard that does that. ... show more

Great product and love the pass-through charging with the Magic Keyboard. As others have mentioned, the cut out for the USB-C port was too small for anything other than the OEM charging cable. However, 30 seconds with my Dremel tool solved that while maintaining the integrity of the cover.

After three weeks, the bottom corners broke off!!! Biggest pro—holds the Apple Pencil securely. Biggest con—too much money for what it is. And it can crack easily. Made from cheap brittle plastic. It cracked in several places and I had to use a file to smooth out the sharp edges it caused. The only redeeming quality is that it keeps the pencil secure. Other than that it’s worthless....wish I can give it zero stars. Don’t buy it! ... show more

The Cover Buddy is flimsy and broke in a few different places after about 3 weeks of normal use. The thin strip of plastic at the charger access port and around one of the speaker ports were the first to break. Then, I noticed a small crack at the top corner that I have no idea how it happened. This product will do little to protect your device if it gets dropped. It will protect the edges from incidental scratches where the plastic has not broken off. I DO NOT recommend this product. On Dec. 28th. I downgraded this to 1 star. I had to stop using it. It kept breaking apart. Piece of garbage now! ... show more

    • Was great. Ruined my magic keyboard.

Originally I ordered one for my magic keyboard, and it fit but the keyboard didn’t close all the way. I saw there was an updated version so I returned the first one and ordered the new one. This one came and its fine! But it took so long that in that time I decided to return the magic keyboard because it was too friggin heavy, and it was too expensive to be that heavy. I got the Smart Keyboard again and honestly I love it. It’s so much lighter and it fits in the sleeve I bought no issues because its not sure thick. Even with the cover buddy on it fits everywhere so much better. I will say this thing should be $20. I get that it has the smart connectors. But its just too expensive. It’s just a super thin piece of plastic and it wont do much if you drop your iPad. Especially if you have the 12.9 like I do. However for the convince its worth it to just get this version. Iblasion makse something kind of close but its thicker and covers more of whatever case you’re using but holds the Apple Pencil. Which is really why I started looking for something in the first place. Anyways hopefully this biography of my life and case buying helps someone. May the odds be in your favor. Good luck. ***I had to update my review. After a month the case stopped ,y pass through charging from working on my magic keyboard. And actually stopped it from working completely. This is a $300 keyboard case. And the way the prongs connect is really loose because the plastic moves. And causes wear on the actual case prongs. So I had to have my keyboard replaced by apple. Thankfully they replaced it and worked with me to fix the issue. Otherwise I would have been out $400 with tax and what I paid for this piece of plastic. I dont recommend it anymore. ... show more

All you need to know about this bad product. ************** This is a $5 product that does provide some very small level of protection, and it’s mostly psychological. Magic keyboard users do need to buy it so the price is hiked. If you can, wait for someone else to make a better, more affordable product.
