I was so excited to finally purchase a laminator and even did research before purchasing. I mulled over this purchase for a month or so before finally deciding on this both for the price and size. I figured all products have some bad reviews and figured the good ones outweighed the bad. Since this is my first laminator I had nothing to compare it to so I was fine with waiting 5 minutes for it to warm up, but the unit gets extremely hot and has no grip at the bottom which meant I had to stabilize it while I slowly fed my laminating sheets through (didn't burn my fingers, but it wasn't a pleasant feeling.) I purchased this laminate items for my planner addiction and it worked.... until it didn't. One laminating sheet got too hot and curled in instead of feeding itself out the other end and when I went to take it apart so I could unjam it I realized that you cant and it had become melted into the rollers. The way the internal mechanism is put together you'd have to unplug the internal wires from each other to fully separate the rollers, and since I'm no engineer I had little faith I'd be able to reconnect them, so this went right into the trash and I ordered a more expensive laminator. Comparing this to my new laminator (which is the Teji 13 inch 4-Roller Thermal Laminator LV-400) I can immediately tell the Swingline is a lower quality "craft occasionally" home office type machine and not meant for someone who laminates multiple sheets in one session. If you like testing out new ways to use your laminator I'd suggest investing in a different machine and not this one, don't be like me and purchase based off price thinking the bad reviews only happen occasionally.

Perfect!! Customers complain about the “melted” pages but it is not the laminator, it’s the humidity of the paper. Every few papers I laminate, I run a piece of feedstock through to suck up any moisture that may have transferred to the laminator. If you run like that you won’t have issues. I laminate almost everything being a homeschool mom of a pre-k and K so the girls can mark on the papers w dry erase and reuse them.

I have had this laminator since Feb 2017. We use it reguarly at work and it is worth every penny! Other reviewers who have said it's too small or the pages come out crooked - you either didn't read the description or you're not using it correctly. Yes, it's small. There's no getting around that. As far as pages coming out crooked, you just have to line the pages up with the guide. That does take a little patience and there is a learning curve but that doesn't make it a bad product. I purchased this one because of the brand. Swingline has been around forever and produces the best staplers out there. This little laminator has definitely lived up to the brand and has far exceeded my expectations.

I recently got a board game that's going to be played by adults and kids at our house, and I wanted to laminate some thin cardstock pieces that would be used quite extensively and could handle the abuse that could be thrown at it (like drinks being spilled on them, etc). I knew that there was a potential for this laminator to not last very long, but for the price I only needed it to last long enough to do all of the piece that were included in the game. For that requirement, this laminator worked exactly as I had hoped. I laminated around 20 pages worth of items, and other than one where I put 2 game pieces in next to each other (which I had to put through a second time to get rid of some bubbles) it worked like a charm. This game has some expansions that are coming out around April of next year which I already have preordered, so I will have a number more to do then and will update my review here based on whether this laminator still works then and does what I need it to do or not, but for now I am glad I bought this particular model.

As a Child Care Teacher, I am constantly having to laminate things, for my classroom. Instead of waiting/finding time to laminate with our center one, I decided to get my own, to have at home or keep in my classroom. I opted for this one, as it had good reviews and was on the cheaper end. Well, the saying is true...you get what you paid for! I only had 6 things to laminate, and 4 sheets in, it ate my paper, and jammed. I took it apart and was able to get it out, to use again. This happened all 3 times, I used this machine!! Pics show my final use, which completely wrapped around, the bars, and NO WAY, of pulling/cutting it out. I decided it was enough, and sent the laminator back last night...WITH my paper STILL stuck in it!! I ended up ordering the Scotch laminator we currently have at work...as I/fellow employees have NEVER had an issue with that one, even after 50 sheets of continuing laminating. I would not recommend this product, and think spending more money on a better product, is definitely worth it!!

I’ve had this laminator before. It was on sale so I got it. I never had any issues. Basic straightforward. Then we moved and I lost it somehow. I ended up purchasing a different brand and it didn’t process the laminated paper at all. It’s like the feeder was broken. So I returned it and went back to this one. So glad I did. I laminate small items at home for my kids, for me, even my husband. I make flash cards for my kids to study. A small card with important numbers and info that my kids can keep in their backpack. All sorts of stuff. I’ve never had any issues and it for whatever reason I lose this next one I would definitely buy it again.

Like the color option. Never owned one with a cold setting. Worked great for my projects as I grew up with lamination and a kid in schools unlike the past generations today. Do not save a lamination paper for smaller objects or it will get stuck inside. I recommend only inserting a entire sheet of lamination with project or else you will not be able to get it out. I could not see anywhere you could take apart the top from the bottom.
