We put this on our floor in front of the wood stove. We're seeing 120°F on the top surface, and maybe 12-15 degrees color below it. I would've expected a bigger insulation effect than this.

The size is as expected. However, the material is much thinner than I would expect a fireproof mat to be. Granted, I have not tested the fireproof nature of the mat, I just have some doubts about the durability. Outdoors, this would most likely not make it through a year of exposure to the elements. Indoors, it does provide a nice cover over the carpeted floor in front of the wood stove. It did not come with any documentation as to its fire rating. I have other fireproof "hearth extensions" that have clear documentation and UL listings for their fire prevention capabilities and use - this did not have any of that. So - if you need something less flammable than the flooring or decking, this should work. Don't expect your $23 investment to last forever or to use it to meet NFPA fire code in indoor uses.

Kind of glossy on one side, a little more flat on the other. It is a lot thinner than I thought it would be. It came folded instead of rolled so. there are many creases that will take forever to come out. Having a black mat on my black commercial carpet, I thought would be good, but not so much. Because ash is grey. After one fire it already looks terrible and needs a good clean. I took a chance but, I will be looking for a better solution. Just a suggestion but,, you should offer it grey if you want to put it in front of a fireplace, where you encounter mostly ash

We’ve actually been using this as a cover for our coffee table when we do Korean BBQ at home. It withstands the heat and makes for easy clean up with the splatter of oil and fat. It’s easy to fold and store. Also easy to clean, just wipe down with a Lysol wipe and let it air dry. Minus the one star because there was a spot on the mat that wasn’t woven all the way and you can see the white layer underneath.

I ordered this for a small charcoal grill I occasionally use (mainly I use a gas grill). The charcoal grill works great but it is messy to get started and drops embers and grease where you're using it, so I don't like to use it on my deck or even the concrete. This mat solves those problems and is pretty easy to clean and store when it's not needed.
