    • Excellent Solid Color Matelasse' Diamond Pattern Bedspread
Size: Twin Color: Grey
I bought two of these spreads in grey for a pair of twin beds in our guest room. What's included: The twin size comes with one standard size pillow sham. The edges of the pillow sham are not "stiff" but in my opinion they are not "floppy" either. Look and Feel: The spreads have a soft, smooth hand and are very attractive. I do not understand why some reviews say that it has a "polyester" feel. There is nothing scratchy about the fabric and after having slept under it one night I can say that it is very "breathable". In fact, that is one reason I got cotton bedspreads rather than a comforter set; they are more comfortable. It just feels nice and not too heavy. I would compare it to the weight of a blanket. I have had other "matelasse" spreads that are not nearly as soft. This one is very nicely “quilted” or “cushioned" as the French definition of the word "matelasse" indicates. The woven fabric has a diamond weave in the cloth that is actually softer (my opinion) than many quilted fabrics that require more care and maintenance. The stitching of a quilt can be fragile often coming loose in the wash making machine washable and dry-able cotton matelasse the best option for me and I expect the feel of the cotton to get softer with each wash. Thickness and weight: It is thick enough so that minor sheet wrinkles should not show which is important to me. It is not as forgiving of bed-making errors as a comforter but still easy to use. I don't have time to spend on making sure you can bounce a quarter or that the hospital corners are razor sharp but I do want a neat, tidy looking bed that doesn't take hours to make and this works. Perfect Size: The spreads amply cover our the pillow top mattresses that have foam toppers. There is very little odor straight out of the package so you probably don't have to wash them at all. You might just hang them outside to air for an afternoon to freshen them before putting them on the bed but I am ticky and washed them. Shrinkage: I washed in cold water and dried on "fluff" setting and the shrinkage was less than one inch per side. The shrinkage is what you would expect with any 100% cotton piece. Please note that this is a bedspread that is long enough to cover the bed pillows. Some reviews have said it is "huge" but I think that the reviewer(s) may have tried to make the spread work like a comforter which would make it drag the floor on both sides and the foot of the bed. Styling: I would call the style "classic". I paired the spreads with 100% cotton blankets that were very close to the same color and added a white hotel pillow sham with grey satin stitching (that I already had on hand) and am thrilled with how they all look together even if the blankets (check out my photos and review on the blankets I paired with the spreads ) fall short of the softness of the spreads. Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this set to a friend. ... show more

    • Superior bedspread indeed !
Size: King Color: Navy Blue
If you’re a fan of the bedspread, you know they’re a dying breed. The duvet or comforter is prevalent, and when you do spot a spread it’s likely to be of questionable quality. Not so with this bedspread and sham set. I selected the navy color option: a truly rich, deep blue. Although this all cotton set is made in India, the material quality rivals that of matelasse from Portugal; the weave is tight and smooth. The spread is substantial in weight, yet not so heavy as to be too warm in summer (or Texas winter!) Most importantly, the king is sized at a generous 120” x 120” - it covers the bed almost to the floor on all sides, with an allowance at the top to cover a set of pillows if desired. Covering pillows, as is traditional on a bedspread, isn’t necessary though: the set includes 2 king sized shams that are just a tad big, perhaps thoughtfully allowing for shrinkage upon subsequent washing/drying. At the recently reduced price, this bedspread set is indeed an incredible value for a truly superior product. ... show more

    • Lightweight, soft, linty
Size: King Color: Grey
Review Image by Equestrian Equestrian
I like the weight - I've had trouble finding a lightweight bedspread like this. I'd been searching for something in seersucker, but it's virtually unavailable these days unless you want grandma's goofy gingham pastels (apologies to Vermont Country Store), or the newer "cotton gauze" that seems to have replaced traditional seersucker everywhere you look. This spread seems like it will work as a decent substitute, though not quite as breathable. Rather like a large light/med-weight blanket. The king size is generous - 120" x 120" - which is convenient, because no matter how you orient it on the bed, it fits the same (and the pattern is symmetrical). I was truly shocked by the amount of lint that came off (both in the washer and the dryer) the first time I laundered it (see photo). I'm hoping that doesn't persist. ... show more

    • Great Product
Size: Twin Color: Taupe
I hesitated buying this taupe bedspread, but choices are limited when you want one to actually hang to the floor. The spread is a lighter color than it looks in the picture - maybe "mocha"? Nice color, nice heavy woven spread that will fit in my home washer when needed. Minimal "new" smell (it was in a plastic container, after all). I appreciate no scallops around the bottom, no flowery pattern, etc. I'm at a loss how some reviews criticized the size. This is for a 16" frame with a 10" mattress and the fit is perfect. Did those people not measure their bed before ordering? Just got it so haven't washed it yet, but instructions are clearly for cold water, so I don't imagine it will shrink very much. Would recommend this for anyone wanting a simple, good quality spread. ... show more
