The media could not be loaded. I bought this portable winch to pull my kayaks up a very steep river bank. So the short video was a test. I will add more later. I will be pulling 4 or 5 kayaks at once. The total weight will be about 400 pounds. The kayak in the video is 100 pounds. The winch definitely makes it easier. This being a portable winch will be useful for many other purposes.

This is an unusual capstan style winch puller that is a cordless design using a 48V 2.0Ah Rechargeable lithium Ion Battery Pack. Because this is not mounted to anything it must be firmly attached to an object with the included web sling to the 2 red steel hooks at the capstan winch back. The requirement is best met with a tree trunk with the sling NOT wound in multiple wraps as the winch needs to swivel to adjust to the load. I was not impressed with how finicky the use was per the instructions which are good. The 48V 2.0Ah lithium ion battery pack, dedicated charger,100 feet of ~3/8ths" rope and dual loop ended web sling with instructions are in P.1 &2. The capstan winch is in P.3-7. The battery pack does have a power remaining LED indicator. The listing calls the 2 red hooks "2 Snatch Block Pulleys". That must be a translation error, no pulleys are part of the package. I can use this in a pinch to tow my car out of a backroad stuck spot as it is not winch equipped. ONLY if there is an anchor point (tree) near enough. It is relatively portable. I can also pull on a load if I have a convenient anchor point. In the right situation this would be useful but I would not recommend it for any overhead lifting not do I think it has adequate safety features. The capstan turns in only one direction and will not go into reverse. I did not like that. It relies on rope friction and windings to do the pulling with the capstan turning. The rope is free running and doesn't fully wind on the capstan. I can at best give a Limited 4 Star Recommendation for this SuperHandy Electric Portable Winch Capstan Hoist Brushless Motor Li-Ion Battery Powered 1000-2000 Max Pulling Force for Forestry Hunting Garden Off-Road (Low Stretch Rope Included). One small capacity battery, awkward to use without a proper anchor, and overall design make me question how useful this is for me. NOT a good value in my opinion. I was looking for a way to pull my jet ski onto the beach when I came across the SuperHandy Electric Portable Winch. What a great buy. Easy to use, plenty of power, and quality construction. I'm still amazed at the power the battery delivers to the capstan. I highly recommend it. As recommended, be sure to wear gloves when hauling in case the rope slips to save your hands from being injured.

It gets the job done I guess but I have a few things that would like to change about it. First off regardless of if I am pulling a load or just winding the cable back up it never winds back up as it should in a uniform fashion. It needs done kind of guide or something to help it wind up evenly. Next, it would be that it needs to come with some different types of attachments to hook up to a power source. That being said at the end of the day I should have accomplished the task I set out to do. The installation went very well. I notice the solenoid box mounted on top of the winch. The bumper clearance did not allow proper distance for the wires that come out of the box. There was no room. So I bought extension wires from local store. I mounted the solenoid box under the hood between the battery and fuse box on my truck. I used the short cables to attach to the battery and 4 longer cables to the winch. I had to open the solenoid box prior to install to switch up the wires. Now it has a clean look with no box on top. The winch works okay and the wireless remote is great. With the wireless remote I don’t have to worry about popping the hood to attach the pendant.

I live remotely three miles off the main highway in the mountains of Wyoming. During the Winter, I have to plow our road with a UTV. Invariably, there will be a few places where I will get high centered on a snow drift. I can not use the UTV winch as it is used to operate the plow. I got this battery powered capstan winch to help pull me out of the snowdrifts when I get high centered. I tested this capstan winch by putting my UTV on a 10% grade and then using the capstan winch to pull it up the hill. The rope provided is 100 feet long and provides plenty of distance for winching the vehicle. This winch had no problem pulling the UTV up the hill. I only had to keep some tension on the running end of the rope. I did not have pull hard. The winch did the work it was designed for. At first, when the winch lifted of the ground, it tended to roll left where the motor is. But as more tension was put on the pulling rope, it leveled out. When the UTV brake was applied, the winch could pull the vehicle about a foot before it would overload and stop. Do I think it will help me with my snowdrift problem? I think so. If nothing else, it will give me some room to rock the vehicle out of the snow drift so that I don't have to dig it out. I look forward to trying it out after one of our snow storms in a couple of months.
