  • More durable and fun than expected!!!!!
Bought this for a cabin trip on the Shenandoah River. Took about 10-15 minutes to inflate with the provided pump. Took all 7 kids upstream about 400-500 yards from our cabin and back down, every day for 3 days. While there were no major rapids on our section of the river, there was plenty of whitewater and rocks to avoid and get stuck on. If I had to guess, I'd say the elevation difference between our cabin and where I could no longer paddle upstream was about 4-5 ft. At that point, the current between the few openings were just too much for me to get upstream without pulling the kayak out of the water... which I didn't want to do with the kids. We got stuck numerous times because of my navigation skills. Parts of the river were so shallow there was no way to avoid scraping the bottom of the kayak on rocks. I did not have a single leak and did not need to add air on any day of our 3 days on the river. Paddles were used numerous times to push us off of rocks and we never had an issue. Solo paddling the kids (one of which was 23 years young) upstream against the current was only challenging when there was wind or a strong current between large rocks. The only visible wear was on the fins and paddles from the numerous river rocks. My only complaint, which really isn't a complaint, is that I was unable to fit everything in the provided bag. No biggie... I have a duffle bag that everything fits in. ... show more

  • This is the best inflatable kayak ever
I have 2 solid bodied kayaks, one is a sports high speed yak for tours, the other is a tandem yak I got so I can use when I'm out by the water with my dog, the latter is very big and heavy, hard to handle, but I wanted something sturdy that would make it possible for me to stay on it with my dog, However given how big and heavy it is I started working on my replacement of the yak, bought another smaller tandem solid yak, it had to go back because it was not stable, got a couple of other inflatable yaks and they didn't work for several reasons (size, stability, etc.) And then I found this and whoa, this is the best I've used by a lot, it's so comfortable, it doesn't even need a seat and I have back problems, it's very stable and super convenient to transport, and the best part is it's the perfect size for me and my dog. I will definitely be keeping this and selling my other yak. I'll also recommend this to anyone looking for a stable, comfortable and cute kayak, my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. I have not used the paddles that came with it because I have my own professional adjustable paddles, I had to extend them to the max to be able to handle this kayak, which makes me think the ones that came with it will likely be too small like everyone else said, I'll try them in my next trip and let you know what I find out. ... show more

  • Impressive for the price
For what you get, I have to say I'm fairly impressed with this inflatable Kayak. It doesn't have the durability of typical SUP boards, but for around $140 it feels like a very well made pool inflatable. For a couple, or single person looking for a casual stroll on a lake, etc...this is a fairly affordable kayak and seemed to be constructed well for what it is. I will say that getting your feet under in the front is a little tight, but was comfortable enough once inside. I was surprised by the seats too...I didn't expect them to be that comfortable, but they're not too bad...I would probably say though that this boat would be better for shorter trips. The included pump isn't great, and they don't recommend using an electric pump...but it worked OK for me to use a SUP pump...you'll just have to keep a close eye on it however, as I found about 2 lbs. of pressure to be about right. The kayak has a strip of plastic with lines on it that you hold against the side while inflating to line up the end markings as it inflates...not the easiest method for checking the inflation...and you'll need to make sure you don't loose the guide too. The other thing that's hard to do is empty any water that gets inside...it tends to get trapped and isn't the easiest to pour out. I ended up using a towel to get the majority out before packing it up. ... show more

  • Portable at a bargain price
At first glance I felt this would be a bear to inflate with what looked like a small pump, however I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it went together. The seats were a little troublesome to inflate due to no having check valves to keep then from deflating when I removed the pump, a minor annoyance. The body inflated very well due to a surprisingly powerful pump that blows air out in both directions when you push the pump handle it in and when you pull it out. Unlike inflatable paddle boards, the material does not have tensile strength meaning that you can easily over-inflate it to a breaking point. Make careful use of the included ruler when inflating. We tried it with two adults, with two kids, and with one adult and one kid, both with the adult in front and then in back. The kayak was surprisingly steady in each scenario, although it works best with two kids due to limited leg room. In a solid kayak there are foot braces and more rigid backs to help the users to position their weight as to help propel the kayak. This inflatable kayak has neither of these. Still, it moves very smoothly in the water and presents very little difficulty to the users. At the end of the day it is advisable to dry out and deflate this kayak as it is susceptible to expansion under sunlight and stretching at the extremes if not laid perfectly flat. Drying before deflating is advised but water in the cockpit is not easy to remove. I wish it had a drain plug for this purpose. Buying, transporting, and storing a solid two person kayak requires one to be very dedicated to the sport. This is an excellent alternative for the occasional kayaker or to have as a lightweight, fun, and inexpensive option for the kids, that you can easily tuck away when not using. ... show more

  • We’ll made
We don’t kayak often, so we don’t want to invest $2,000 in something we’ll use so seldom. This fills the bill. The material is sturdy and the oars are adequate. A good value for occasional kayakers like us.
