Had a flat and one bald tire on this "free" mower. No biggie. Learned in a hurry how important traction is to zero turns when I was leaving 20 ft skids with the inside tire trying to turn uphill. Then getting near a gully and having the front end just fall right into it due to no grip. I went and mounted these tires as soon as they showed up. They are taller than stock tires and are real close to rubbing but do not at all! What a difference! I went for a beat around the yard and wheelies galore! My uphill turns are no longer an issue and I found I had a real hard time marking up the lawn as the tires just stay planted. When you want to move, you move. When you want to turn, the response is immediate, with no skids. EDIT: A few weeks in and these tires perform great, and I swear this mower rides better with them on. I have them at 20 lbs and the mower doesn't beat you up like the stock tires did even at 15 lbs! It's also very cool the color of the logo on the tire matches the SCAG paint perfectly. Got my landscaper neighbor with a bunch of SCAGS green with envy! He asked to try my mower to see how "badly" it tears up a lawn. He thought I was mowing with a tiller with those tires on. Turns out if you don't pivot, and mind the sticks you can go around without leaving a mark! ... show more

My pop has some banks on his property that are fairly steep. Turf tires are great for gentle slopes when dry but there are a few that his tractor will not stay put on with those tires. The old ones were in need of replacement so when I was searching for something to replace them with, I was thinking of my 4-wheeler tires (Maxxis Bighorns). Those tires allow me and my family to crawl over most terrain with no issue. I found these tires and for the price of the pair, I was sold. After reading some of the more negative reviews about the condition they were received in, I was leary but ordered them anyway. The first pic is how they arrived the second pic is after having them mounted. They are 1" taller than stock but deck adjustment compensates for that and there isn't any frontal scalping of the grass. There is no slippage on any of the banks except from the front (which are being replaced now with similar tires). Traction is night and day in the difference. Pop is able to not only run straight up and down with no break in traction, he is also able to traverse the banks with no fear of the tractor sliding around. (I must say here, if traversing a hillside can be avoided, it should be. Always try to be as safe as possible to avoid serious injury or death when working on hillsides.) These tires have outperformed our expectations and cost much less than comparable models. The 6-ply rating is just gravy and ensures these will probably outlast the tractor. If you're like me and are sick of the worthless turf tires that come standard on zero turns, these tires are a welcome breath of fresh air. Admittedly these things are pretty aggressive and if you're not careful they will tear up your yard, but not much more than a turf tire that spins every time you look at it funny. The difference with these tires is that you can feel when you start to spin and can immediately correct it before any significant damage occurs. But to be honest, it doesn't spin that often, just use common sense when it comes to turning. If you go full tilt ape shit on your turns you'll rip your yard to shreds, if you exercise some care in the process you'll not only be fine, but you will never find yourself cursing your mower as you struggle to catch traction leaving two ruts in your wake to be repaired after you're done mowing. I also purchased a tire that was 2 inches taller than my stock tires (after measuring the clearance to ensure that would fit) and was not only able to get an additional 2ish mph out of the mower, but they also helped with the ride due to the extra sidewall the taller tires afforded. The only reason I rated them as a 4 instead of a 5 was due to the size rating vs actual size. The tires I bought are rated as 24x10x12. Everything except that 10 is correct, these are only 9in wide. But still a solid tire that even with the size discrepancy I would buy again. ... show more
