This is a nice big solar charger. Comes with several battery connections. Good quality well built. It has 4 suction cups to mount it with. I used silicone under the suction cups to hold it down on my tool box lid.I have been using this for 6 months now and my battery is holding 12.6 charge. The price is very good. This is for the 6W panel. Build appears to be solid. When exposed to sun it produces about 18volts DC open circuit (with no load... ie not plugged in to the battery). I had no idea if it was actually generating any charge since the voltage would drop to the battery voltage when connected. So, I bought a charge controller and found that with the panel inside the vehicle, mounted to the underside of my truck's sunroof, the tint on the sunroof prevented any measureable current flow to the battery. If I opened up the sunroof at mid-day, it generated between 200 and 300 milliamps. That's an itty bitty trickle of a charge. I have plug in battery maintainers that generate 1000ma (1 amp) and 1500 milliamp. My truck sits a lot so I'm thinking this will keep my battery topped up. Time will tell, but if it works I won't have to take up the limited space in my driveway so I can run a charge cable out from the garage. I would rather leave my truck parked out in front of the house on the street so my driveway is free for our other cars, washing cars, friends coming over, etc. Sept 22: This has been installed now for the last 4 months and every time I check the battery it is fully charged. The engine turns over nice and fast. I do like using this in combination with the charge controller. Look up "Intelligent 10A MPPT Solar Charge Controller" that I bought here on Amazon. It just let's me check whenever I want that the panel is still working and provides another level of battery protection if the panel electronics decide to short out some day. ... show more

We have been using this on the boat for about 45 days now and its been leaving us HIGH AND DRY! In a good way! We have this hooked up to our bilge pump battery and have gotten crazy rain storms (we dont use a cover) & so far we have not had any issues. The solar panel just sits on the floor in the back of the boat, set it and forget it. Awesome $40 well spent ... show more

So I bought this larger version thinking it would create more electricity to keep my less used car ready for action. I can't tell if this one actually produces more power than the cheaper version, but this panel is producing literally a trickle of electricity. Bright California sun apparently isn't a strong enough light source to keep my car alive. I have yet to plug my voltmeter into it to find out exactly how much it's producing, but once I do I'll update here. I already have an idea of how little it is though, since it isn't even enough to power the LED screen on my associated voltage controller unit. So far I'm unimpressed with its performance. The media could not be loaded. I'm in Florida so we get a lot of sun, for an older vehicle with direct 12v connections this has been excellent for keeping the battery charged for over 2 years. Originally I had it connected to the cig lighter port which worked fine, but due to old age that port had a mishap, it actually works better on the 12vdc direct. I didn't know if it would actually work but over time this thing has been great for long term outdoor storage. 2000 Ford ranger here. Product does what it says it does.
