Description

SUIZAN products are made with care by master craftsmen in one of Japan’s towns known for its craft-making tradition with a history of over 100 years. Japanese saws cut wood with pulling force, not pushing force. It can cut accurately with less effort. Two different blades on a saw. One is for cutting along the grain called "rip cut", and the other is for cutting across the grain, called "cross cut". "SUIZAN stays sharp, delivering pro results for all. Easy to use and offers a finish masters would be proud of." - Miyamoto, Katsuyama Construction 0.02" thin blade can cut smoothly and precisely without effort. Minimizes wood resistance. High-quality Japanese steel can provide razor-sharp cut, high durability, and wear resistance. The artisanal of METATE (making teeth) makes sharp cuts. ASARI (setting) enables smooth cuts. The handle is applied Japanese tidy craftsmanship "TOUMAKI": individually hand-wrapped by artisans. The blade should be replaced when it is difficult to cut or when the cross section has become rough. The point of using a Japanese saw is to "cut with pulling force". Instead of pushing hard to cut, apply a light force when pulling and relax when pushing, so that you can cut smoothly without getting tired even after long hours of use. A joy to use
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
Great saw. A joy to use. Nice thin kerf, and cuts through wood quickly and with ease.

Cuts hickory & oak right out of the box!
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
Packaging is great, and assembly was very easy. It looks well-made, and right away I tried ripping through a scrap of hickory. Slowly but surely, it cut through. I’m more or less a beginner woodworker, but I feel like it came pretty dang sharp and ready to cut just about anything. It was easy to use, and I’ve never sawed wood by hand before. I quickly start to get a feel for it by trying different techniques and noticing how the saw and the wood respond. Also, if you flick the blade, it makes a super sweet ringing sound! If you’re using this to build guitars like I am, it doubles as a percussion instrument. It will make some cool samples. I think it’s well worth the price and I’m excited to use it when I get my blanks in the mail. ... show more

Excellent Product

The best saw I ever bought. I've used it for over a year and it still works like new. Japanese quality is unmatched.

Best Tool for Dovetails
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
This is my 3rd different saw from Suizan. After trying a variety I can safely say this blade simply does it better. The nadle is long and easy to grip and the blade cuts like butter on hardwood. As someone who enjoys cutting dovetail but always seems to struggle with getting clean easy cuts this saw has been a massive helper and greatly improved my cuts. The saw is well structured, sharp, and meets the functional needs to be a great tool. I also like that the blade width isn’t too wide. ... show more

Cuts like going through butter, extremely well built, keep the blade protector sleeves
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
INCREDIBLE saw. I read many of the reviews, they were correct-this is the best saw I ever bought (I am not an experienced woodworker). It not only cuts "like butter", but it leaves very little residue sawdust. I was going to use the sawdust to make a mixture of glue to fill some holes in a workbench I built. I vacuumed up underneath where I sawed, all I got out of my hand vacuum was more cat hair.. I built this desk with 2x4's and brought it inside, attached my hand tools to it and then realized I had a large portion that was wasted space and I should add some drawers. I wasn't willing to take all my tool brackets off it and go outside to cut 1 2x4, so I bought this saw. It is well worth it. I know when tools are brand new they work better, but believe me-I can tell this saw will last. Also, it is a VERY good idea to keep the zip bag (also very well made) to keep the sharp blades away from your skin when putting it away. It even includes a ring at the top to hang from a pegboard. ... show more

Great blade, handle could be better.
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
For the price, I love the blade, but could use a slightly higher quality handle and maybe a protective sleeve for the blade, as it can be irritating to transport. The wood handle is fine (I drilled a hole in the end to hang it up), but I could use a higher quality grip material than the plastic cord that came on it. The blade is just the right amount of flexible, allowing flush cuts, and also your typical wood working cuts, and the two options of teeth are a good pairing. I especially like the angle of the edges compared to the handle, as it puts the right kind of pressure on the teeth when pulling, making for a smooth, precise cut. I’ve had it for probably about a year now and used it for all kinds of things, and in addition to woodworking, I’ve also found it quite useful for hard plastic. The finer teeth are good for cutting hard plastic without cracking it. Very good saw, but I would have paid a little more to get that same blade with a better grip and a protective sleeve. ... show more

Amazing saw! Buy it now!
Style: 9.5 Inch (240mm) Assembly Ver
Couldn't be happier with this! It cut through bolivian rosewood like butter! It's a good beginner handsaw and is very easy to use. It's comfortable and has a nice light weight to allow longer use! The teeth are sharp, and exact, the handle is light, and the assembly process is easy. One screw, and done! Functions exactly like you'd think. The handles allow easy grip. The length is as advertised with a 9.5 inch blade. Would easily buy again, and will buy another Suizan product! ... show more
