Description

Meet four inspiring female heroes from the New York Times bestselling Ordinary People Change the World series in this high-quality box set. This friendly, fun biography series focuses on the traits that made our heroes great--the traits that kids can aspire to in order to live heroically themselves. Each book tells the story of one of America's icons in a lively, conversational way that works well for the youngest nonfiction readers and that always includes the hero's childhood influences. At the back are an excellent timeline and photos. This box set features four heroic women--Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Jane Goodall, and Sacagawea--each of whom changed the world in her own unique way. Read more

  • Wonderful reading for kids
Bought this as a gift for friends who have little girls (aged 3, 5 and 7). They love them. We read these books to our children (age 6) and they love this series and have learned so much.

  • Threads the needle just right
How do you write a book about Harriet Tubman for young kids? One that is honest and true to history without scaring them or ruining their sweet innocence that lasts for such a short time in life? This entire series is so good! They remind kids that all of our historical heroes (Tubman, Earhart, MLK, Rosa Parks, Abe Lincoln) were once kids too. Every story has a lesson that is demonstrated the whole way through. My 6 and 8 yr old girls love these books - and I do too. Certainly have gotten choked up while reading them. History matters! Integrity, honesty, curiosity, self-awareness, imagination, determination - these books hit on so many life lessons! ... show more

  • Historical Figures for K-2
Four out of five stars because one book overlaps with the regular Ordinary People Change the World Gift Set. Otherwise the books are a great way to introduce kids to historical figures.

  • great for young readers
We gave the set to my daughter or her 5th birthday after her love for history grew while watching "The Who Was Show". We had Neil Armstrong and George Washington from the series and they were a big hit. She loves these books and they are a great way to introduce some of the most notable people in history to younger kids. ... show more
