This tray is EXTREMELY well made. All of the bolts and hardware are first class. The entire unit is completely adjustable. Once you establish exactly where you want it, THEN tighten up the bolts. I had to move where I was placing the brackets, etc., but once moved, it fit perfectly. I had wanted to place the tray back as far as possible in order to remove my batteries for storage. This actually placed the tray way too tight against the front of the travel trailer, so I had to move all of the brackets. For whatever it is worth, you WILL need to replace any hard-cover for your LP bottles with a soft cover. This will enable you to remove the LP tanks for filling. Otherwise you WILL have to remove the tray.....and I do not believe I would want to go thru this process each and every time. You do need to have a buddy or two to at FIRST place the tray where you want it to be. It is not a one-person job. The tray is well built, sturdy, and heavy. I have a newer (2019) Nash 22H travel trailer - and this unit seems to have a well-built, longer tongue. The Stromberg Tray is a perfect match. You can readily adjust it around batteries, LP tanks, Equalizer brackets, etc. I did have to have one of my metal works welding buddies take one of the "lips" off from the front of the "T" shaped bracket that holds the brace for the front. It did not sit level on the tongue because of the added electric front jack. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! EXTREMELY WELL BUILT!! (And it will hold considerable weight. You can stand on it and wash the front of your rig - IF you weigh less than 300#!!!) ... show more

The tray is very strong and nice but the hardware sucks. It comes with weak cheap bolts and nuts. Do yourself a favor and just get proper hardware before you start assembling the tray. I snapped several bolts putting it together. Some of the bolts were so cheap that the proper socket wouldn’t fit, it was too tight like the quality control was off. Also the holes in the top brackets that slip over the poles did not line up so I had to bend them a bit with a “C” clamp to get them bolted up. I see several reviews where people say the holes they drilled didn’t line up so I marked all the holes after the tray was in place where I wanted it, then removed it to drill the holes and that worked out for me. ... show more

Investing in the RV cargo tray above the trailer tongue has proven to be a pivotal step in retrofitting my 25-foot camper. My goal was to integrate a mini-split system for energy savings, and eventually, a full solar setup to power the mini-split. This cargo tray provided the perfect foundation, showcasing remarkable sturdiness and stability. It doesn't budge or wobble, even during long drives, making it an essential component for my energy-efficient camper upgrade. While the setup process does involve a considerable number of nuts and bolts, the result is well worth the effort. The tray's construction exudes durability, instilling confidence in its ability to support the weight of the mini-split and future solar panels. Though the instructions might be a bit lacking, they're navigable with a bit of patience and basic problem-solving skills. For those with even modest intelligence, the retrofitting journey with this cargo tray is a manageable and worthwhile endeavor. It’s a little daunting at first. Once you get going and read the directions like 11 times it makes sense and is not that hard. I put most of it together and had my wife give a hand for the tray itself. Everything else was a solo job. I used a silver sharpie to mark my drill holes. I took my bars out to drill them. I marked set points with the sharpie also to help get it back into place. Our trailer allows for our plastic case to come out. That is squeezing to get it out. We plan to put suitcase clamps onto our plastics shell and drill out the rivets to make it a two piece cover for better access. It’s fine for now. I’ll post a pic one we complete that task. 1.5 hours install time. Great overall product so far. No travel testing as of yet. Will update once we go try it out next week. Update 6-15-20 Added rubber Jeep style hinges to shell. I drilled them out first and installed the hardware. I bought these off amazon. I’ll add that info soon. I got 4 pack of them for $20 or so. I drilled out the rivets on my case so it could come apart. Now I can slip them in and around. The new hinges hold my case just like with the rivets. I am gonna add a few 1/4x1/2 machine screws with wing nuts to make sure this doesn’t come apart. I haven’t taken it out for a test run yet but will soon and report any issues or concerns. Update 7/8/26 We bought another trailer 3 years and again put this on the new trailer. We absolutely love it. I did a few mods to help. Hooks to hold the chains and set screws instead of bolts. This thing is very customizable. Even have a spot for large fire extinguisher bolted to it. I don’t travel with the extinguisher on it. ... show more

    • Enclosed Trailer Conversion - Must Have
Absolutely amazing. Used to hold a mini-splint on the top deck for an enclosed trailer/camper conversion. Still had plenty of room below on my trailer tongue to hold propane bottles underneath. Very sturdy! And not too difficult to put together. This is the one to buy - look no more.
