  • Nice Les Paul DIY Kit (quick 24-hour build)
Color: Natural Finish Style: LP Style
It comes with everything you need to complete the build. We sanded the body (mahogany) and finished with several coats of clear lacquer. We left the maple neck alone as it was smooth and finished. (We wanted to build this in 24 hours, so we did not fill in the wood grain on the body) All parts went together well including the bolt on neck (not the usual glued on a Les Paul). Also wish the neck had the Les Paul look headstock. This one has the offset but is shaped more like Fender type. Frets were not too bad, and the edges were nicely finished. The nut needed some filing for a few strings to fit better. It could also use some more neck work setup to get the best play and feel. But it was nice to see the neck fit square and firm into the body and is secured with 4 screws. The wiring has plug in connectors so no soldering. The instructions could be better - especially the wiring with better photos and maybe numbering or color-coded connectors. The tuners work ok especially at the price point. All the pre-drilled holes were precise, and the hardware included fit well. It comes with a socket tool, guitar strings, an audio cord, and even a tuning crank. When you install the pickups, make sure to ruff them in at around 3/32" from string to pick up as a starting point. All knobs and the 'pick up switch' work well and are quiet - no noise or scratchiness while adjusting. It plays well and sounds very much like a Les Paul with Humbuckers. I would recommend this as a first DIY project. ... show more

Very nice for the money. I only had to intonate one string on the bridge. I may put some different pickups in the future but the ones that came with the kit sound really good. I also like the black hardware.

Put everything together and the neck didn't line up. Fretboard was made of some sort of plastic like material.
