  • AMAZING
Color: Classic Black
I absolutely love this keyboard. As a beginning piano student (at 71 mind you) this is everything I hoped it would be. The sound is amazing and it was important to me to have an 88 key keyboard. This price was great! The product AMAZING!

  • Very playable entry level keyboard
Color: Classic White
This 88 key weighted keyboard is portable and very easy to use out of the box. The keys themselves are semi-weighted and of decent quality as is the pedal. The music stand and headphones are slightly on the flimsy side but adequate for beginners. The 128 tones are decent but have limited timbre so pressing the keys hard or soft mostly changes the volume of the sound, not the character of the sound. As with many beginner keyboards, the orchestral tones (saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, violin) are not very realistic, especially in the higher or lower ranges. The 200 rhythms are purely percussive, with no bass line or background harmonies; however, you can use the Chord button to add bass and background, but only in major keys. The volume is low relative to the tone so for example, the piano sound played with moderate force overpowers the drums. The 110 demos include combinations of multiple tones and rhythms, with some interesting variations on classical melodies, but the limited timbre of the sounds is also evident when trying to enjoy these pieces. You can record up to 695 notes and play along with the recording afterwards. However, the utility of this function is severely limited by the fact you have to play in the same tone as the recorded tone. For example, if you record a background melody on piano and play it back, the melody will play back on piano. However, if you want to play along with it with an oboe sound and change the tone to oboe, the melody will also play back in oboe. The midi socket allows the keyboard to interface with my computer or iPad. The USB socket allows me to play MP3s. The audio in is an aux in and allows me to pipe in music from my phone or other external device. Since I don’t use these functions normally, I don’t know about the quality of these features. Overall, I like the portability and ease of set up, and the keys themselves are of decent quality, making this a very playable entry level keyboard. ... show more

  • Two octaves on the left do not work at all
Color: Classic White
Not a good value as two octaves do not work on the left side of this keyboard. Not good for beginners in this state. The keys that work do feel good, in fact , I like this piano if the keys worked. The accessories are good to have , head phones, sustain pedal are good to have. The sound is truly amazing. I can't tell if all the features work because there is no sound on the left side of the piano. ... show more

  • SEP-150S Semi-Weighted 88-Key Digital Piano by STRICH (sold by Massenan Music)
Color: Classic White
The media could not be loaded. This keyboard comes with a lot of things you need to get started, has a handful of surprisingly good voices, a good amount of adjustable settings, and is perfect for beginners or instructors teaching students just starting to learn. However, experienced piano players likely won’t find a lot of use for this keyboard. The keyboard is relatively light-weight compared to a lot of other keyboards and the key length (not width) is shorter than normal piano keys, granted this should not affect 90% of piano players. The keys are semi-weighted meaning that there is some resistance when you press down on them. I actually found it to be a bit too sensitive as it’s very easy to accidentally register adjacent keys. This is not good for a player like myself with my own playing style, but it actually is beneficial for beginners or those just starting to learn to play piano as it will teach your fingers to be more accurate. This set comes with almost everything you need to get started: the keyboard itself, a sustain pedal, some cheaper but functional headphones, key and note stickers you can stick onto the keys for reference and learning, power cable, sheet music/tablet stand, and user manual. It’s perfect for beginners looking to get up and running immediately. The only things you don’t get are a stool to sit on and a keyboard stand for the keyboard to sit on. The keyboard comes equipped with 128 voices. Sadly, you only get two piano options and neither are exceptional but certainly adequate. Most of these voices are mediocre or not good, but there actually were a handful of surprisingly good sounds that were just as good or better than some voices on my more expensive professional keyboards. There are 200 rhythms as well which is a good number to play around with for creative purposes. This has many standard options such as transposition, tempo, and key velocity, but I was pleasantly surprised with some of the additional settings such as microtonal control and the ability to record right onto the keyboard (the recordings are not saved and erased when the keyboard is powered off). There are two speakers on this keyboard and they work. That’s about as much as I can say about them. They certainly are not high-grade speakers and I did find that my left speaker does rattle quite badly when the low end is registered. Thankfully, there is a headphone 3.5mm (1/8-inch) stereo jack that could potentially allow you to connect this to satellite speakers (so long as you have the appropriate wires and equipment). I found the tone quality was improved using this method. While there is a traditional 5-pin midi jack, it appears that it is only for a “tripedal”. I was hoping to emulate voices from my professional keyboard onto this keyboard using this midi method (as I can do this with many other keyboards) but unfortunately it does not work. Instead, you can hook this up to a computer or DAW using the USB-B cable. I did not check to see if you can put sounds onto this keyboard, only that you can record sounds from the keyboard (using Garage Band for Apple). Finally, I just can’t image any experienced piano player getting much use from this keyboard. Also, the sensitivity of the keys can be problematic as it’s far too easy to accidentally register sounds from other keys. However, I absolutely see great potential for beginners, children just learning to play, and teachers who like a student to play along with the instructor. Overall, this keyboard has a lot of strengths for beginners, especially since this comes with almost everything you need to get started, but not a lot of purpose beyond that. It does function perfectly fine and there are some surprisingly positive things to this keyboard such as a few exceptional voices and a good handful of internal settings, but this keyboard truly is suited for beginners. This keyboard would be a great choice for beginners or parents who want to get their kids a “nicer” piano that’s not too expensive or for parents who are unsure if their child will continue playing piano in the future. In other words, if they/you are serious about continuing your skills, you will upgrade to a better unit, but this would be a nice keyboard to start off with. 3 out of 5 stars for experienced piano players 4.5 out of 5 stars for beginners ... show more
