    • Whistles why drinking makes it unusable
I so wanted to give this straw/lid 5 stars but sadly no matter what I try to do when I drink it whistles louder than a 5 year old on Christmas morning with a new musical instrument! It came with two straws, one I cut at an angle and the other I left alone. Whistles just as loud! I'm definitely going to have to do something because I'll be boarding a plane home in the next few weeks and I'm certainty not going to attempt to drink from my new bottle with this straw/lid combo.     • After about a year of daily use, the rubber on the spout starts to degrade

It's been about 13 months since I received this, and it seemed great for a while, with only minor complaints. You will find situations where you get terrible suction after closing the lid if you leave the straw up, or in a semi-open position. I believe this is because if you keep it closed while screwing the lid on, it actuates the pressure valve in a positive manner. I would say even with knowing this, I still have to redo the lid 50% of the time so I get proper suction. Fast-forward to about 11-12 months and the rubber on the spout is starting to deform. I've only hand-washed with Dawn dish soap, and this bottle has never seen UV. Purely used indoors, refilled about 5 times a day. Today, I felt something tickle my tongue after a sip, and it was the rubber on the inside of the 'straw' portion of the spout (why is there even rubber there?) that came off and into my mouth. ... show more

I was hesitant to purchase because many reviewers said there were problems with the cap leaking. But I’ve had no issues so far. As soon as I got it, I tested it for leakage and nothing came out! It’s very easy to drink from and the perfect replacement for the original 21-24 oz hydro flask lid. I was tired of unscrewing the original cap every time and it’s harder to drink from. I’ve also had no issues with the handle placement and it doesn’t get in the way of drinking like others mentioned. I highly recommend this!! Notes: - the mouth piece is hard but covered by a softer silicone-ish material so it’s not just straight hard plastic. I like it - the handle is a bit thinner and not as comfortable as the original lid (as others said). But I’ve carried mine around and had no issues with it. - the overall lid is more plastic feeling than the original hydro flask cap, and I do prefer the material of the original cap. But I still plan on using this - you may have to cut the straws it comes with, but I had no problem with this. I just used kitchen scissors. ... show more

    • Fits..but....
This fits my water bottle and doesn't leak when carrying it BUT it DOES LEAK when it sits with cold water in in overnight, with it closed. Whatever is happening as the water inside the bottle changes temp drives water up and out of the vent hole, filling the top of the closed lid with water by morning. You should know this is you leave a bottle with this lid anywhere near something that can't get wet. The carry loop also has a rough seam that should have been polished down before delivery (you know, where your fingers go to hold onto it) Certainly not worthy of HF's reputation. ... show more

    • A good alternative to the Hydro Flask cap
I did not see this mentioned elsewhere in other reviews, but I did have to cut the straw to fit inside my Hydro Flask 21 oz bottle. Also, I discovered that if you do not fold down the mouth piece it will leak. Logical. The cleaning pipe is a great feature so I know that the straw won't get funky.

    • straw began crack where it connects to lid, rubber around mouthpiece broke off
i was excited to replace my hydroflask branded sport lid with this air tight option that doesnt leak, however the straw began to shred after the first use and now barely stays connected to the top AND the rubber covering the mouth piece has cracked. Also...the mouthpiece is very short and you need to rest your lip on the handle to drink. ... show more

I have a water bottle I love but I dropped it recently and the auction on the cap stopped working. I was afraid it would be hard to find a new top that would fit.     • Excellent Lid for the Noseless
The handle hits my nose. If I were to use the straw then it wouldn’t matter. But I don’t want to have to clean the straw. This makes traditional, tilt-the-bottle-back-and-swig-style drinking nigh on impossible. I went with a lid that has a movable handle. Get this one if you prefer straws.
