I had a nice set of salt and pepper shakers to match heirloom stone china, but they weren't used for years because the holes were too small. I researched videos and saw how some drill bits specialized for drilling ceramic-type materials are available, using water. I was able to enlarge the holes that were already there. Some cracking on the glaze occurred but otherwise it bore through and made a clean larger hole in seconds. I haven't tried some of the shaped bits that came with the set, but will be trying to smooth out some of the chips in older pieces I couldnt bare to throw out.
