  • Really impressive tone for the price
I used to play a Fender Jazz (Mexico) that was stolen from my home. Being on a tight budget I decided the Sterling Sub 4 strings It really sounds amazing! And seems well built. With the 2 pickups, the tone possibilities are huge. You can set it up to sound like a jazz bass or a precision as well.

  • Amazing Bass...
Color: Olive
I love these basses... I have three of them... since I do several different Tunings on stage when we perform live. These are consistent quality and they play well right out of the box...

  • Decent beginner bass - terrible finish
Color: Olive
So this is the second time I try a Music Man style bass, I had a single humbucker Sterling SUB before that was ok, so I decided to give a second try on a double humbucker for the versatility of tones. I was quite disappointed to be honest. I am not a fan of the woody tones of the music mans, but it could've been a few things that affected the tone. The stock strings on this bass are terrible, I would definitely change it for something brighter. The pickups needs height adjustment, and the neck was in really bad shape. Fret buzz fron fret 1 to 7. Frets after fret 12 were damaged as you can see in the pictures, and the nut was also damaged. This is the second time I by from the Gear Tree vendor and the second time I have a bad experience. They shipped this bass on the original box, when they should've put the original box inside a biger box with extra paper os air wrap to avoid damage during shipping. I am returning this item and buying a Sire V3 which is a way better finished instrument. ... show more

  • Highly Highly Recommended!
I have been playing Bass off and on since around 1987 or 88 and i have owned a cheap Hondo a Squier a Rickenbacher and an Ibanez. up until now i have never played a Musicman or Musicman style. (Sterling bass) This is by far the Best Bass guitar i have ever owned at a ridiculously low price. when i opened it up yesterday i first noticed the nut had all kinds of plastic burrs sticking out all around the strings and were easily brushed off. the D string made almost no sound whatsoever and i was puzzled so i tested the pickups and they were in 100% working order. so i changed the strings to Rotosound FM66 30 50 70 90' Lowered the action and now i have the best Bass guitar money can buy. Its a steal at $464.00 that's with tax and free shipping. I could not be Happier! I have never seen a dead string before and the D string as DOA. a neighbor of mine has it now and is testing it and unwinding it to see what the cause of a mute string could be. he has owned 100's of guitars and has never seen such a problem as well. ... show more

  • Good for its price tag but don’t expect $1000 bass quality
The Bass is great for beginners not too expensive but still playable. I’d recommend changing the strings, the strings it comes with are cheap and rather coarse.

  • Nice bass
The base sounds amazing. It looks nice and it sounds tremendous and I recommend it for anybody starter or professional. Great bass guys!

  • Got reimbursed and I love the new bass
The Lake Blue Metallic was damaged, but after reaching out to the company, they reimbursed me with the Pacific Blue Burst Satin finish. It's definitely going to be my go to bass. Again, thanks for the reimbursement of the Stingray bass and I look forward to using it and not abusing it as much as possible ... show more

  • Unfortunately very low quality and poor QC/Setup
Color: Olive
This is the second one of these that I got, first was reported as "lost in shipping", then showed up after I got a refund. First was obviously a repack/return, and had a mark right on top. But it was otherwise fine. Replacement showed up packed fine, but there are two dings on the top next to the pickguard. Looks almost like another bass fell on it and the tuning keys dented it. These are advertised as "receive final set-up and inspection in California", the second one is completely unplayable, all strings buzz horribly, I tried adjusting the truss rod, but it seems like maybe the 6th fret is high as well. And I've never seen pickups adjusted like this, the bridge pickup is at what looks like a 15-degree angle, looks like a sinking ship. I understand that they have to sometimes be angled, but this is extreme. Very disappointing, I love the color (my favorite) and watching reviews it seemed like a good instrument. I also have a different company's Stingray copy in a 5-string, and after a setup, it plays great. Seems like Sterling needs to up their QC game. ... show more
