I have been wearing Sterns vest for over 20 years. First on the Hudson River in NY then in the oceans. This is the classic vest and this size fit an 8 year old of average build with the straps tight. (plenty of room to grow into it) Dried quickly with no color fading.

Really well made life jacket. We used the stearns puddle jumpers so decided to stick with them for life jackets and are happy with that choice.

My 6 yr old seemed pretty comfortable wearing it and didn't complain too much. I wish it had a between the leg strap to keep it from coming up in the water.

My son is 9 and autistic and I needed a life vest instead of the puddle jumper he was using for when we take the boat to the river. This vest fit him well and he was okay wearing it all day so it must have been comfortable. He is small for his age but the size I ordered fit right
