Fit was fine for my 6 yr old. However, did not realize I was paying $60 for a used product. There is sunscreen all over the front of the vest as well as the inside. The pictures don’t capture well but there is white sunscreen just about everywhere. If I wasn’t in an immediate need for a life vest I would return for a replacement. We purchased this life preserver for our 6 year old who met the weight requirements. When we tried it on him, it would not zip over his chest. He is not thick in the middle by any means, we tried adjusting but eventually decided to return. If it fit, it would have made an awesome life preserver. So try it on and hopefully it works for you! I bought this for my 8 year old, for a trip to one of the islands off the coast of Malaysia. We tested it in a swimming pool first, and it fit well and snug on him. We went kayaking and our kayak actually ended up sinking because a big boat went by and flooded our kayak with water. I wasn't worried at all about my son's safety with this on. This fits my tall 5 year old pretty well - 53 pounds, size US 7 clothes. The arm holes are a little larger than I’m comfortable with for a smaller kid but it has been suitable for 3 weeks of all day wear boating and at camp on the seashore.

My little dude is at the bottom of the weight limit for this swim vest and although it says rated for 50-90 lbs, I can't see how it would fit much bigger kids well. I doubt it would really accommodate an 80-90 lb average sized child. But it fits my 5-year-old perfectly and is quite comfy.

I researched for a while for the perfect life jacket for my son! This turned out to be the perfect one for him! He is around 55-60 lbs & 8 yrs old. He is on the skinny side and it was comfortable for him to wear all day long in a boat fishing. When he set down the fabric over his shoulders laid perfectly so it was not riding up under his chin.
