Using an Anker four port usb-a brick, the adapter wouldn't charge. Using a newer usb-c high powered charger, it started to charge. Not sure why, maybe needed a higher wattage to pass through.. will update review at three months

This adapter is advertised as working with Google Pixel phones. I have a Google Pixel phone and it does not work. Audio output is so noisy that I assumed the adapter had a manufacturing defect and I returned it. The replacement that Amazon sent was just as noisy, so this must be a design defect. Amazon sells other USB-C to stereo audio adapters that work fine with my phone and most of those cost half as much. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one. ... show more

I bought this because I have a Samsung Galaxy S21+ that does not have a headphone jack. Normally this would not be an issue, but I have my own business that takes credit card payments, so I use square. I know that there is the wireless version square device, but I like the old school swiper, which uses the audio jack. Anyways, when I upgraded my phone, this became an issue. I didn't know these things existed before I upgraded my phone since I always had a phone with a headphone jack. I purchased another one previously that worked flawlessly, but alas, one day I had it sticking out of back pocket plugged into my phone, and the part snapped off. Fluke, but in any case, I needed a new one...when I came across this one. It fits flush against my phone, no gap, which is nice. It extends almost the full length of my phone and case. I do have to pull my case down (Otterbox) in order for it to fit fully so it doesn't come out. I am used to that we these...I wish the actual plug part was a little longer to fully accommodate chunkier cases. I have no experience with the audio output, since that is not the reason I use this device. However, using it with square I have had absolutely no issue. I am able to connect to square seamlessly. So if that is your primary use, this will definitely work. I knocked off a few stars because I do have to pull down my case to use it...over time, in my experience, I will have to replace my case because it is constantly being bent. Also, this price point, is more than a little high. In general, at least for my use, I would not spend this amount for this. Again, I just use it for Square, so I do not know the audio capabilities, but it does work perfectly for that purpose. * I base my own purchases on reviews. I keep this on the patio, plugged into an amplifier and USB C adapter. Just attach this to the USB C port on the tablet and I have a great sound system on the patio. Let's me take the table inside afterwards just removing on connection.

Great product if you want to be able to use your older 3.5mm headphone with your iPad. I had previously bought a Belkin adapter where the audio would not work unless it was plugged in with USB-C power connected to it. And you would hear a humming on your headphones. The StarTech will work with out any power cable connected to it. This way if you are some place where you don’t have power, you still listen to music or videos. For example, if you go on a plane trip and want to watch a movie you still can with this adapter. And if your battery get’s low, you can plug in an external battery pack on the USB-C port. Audio quality sounded great with the StarTech. Same as Apple’s USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack. The StarTech adapter will work if you use the older Apple 3.5mm headphone with the play button. However, I noticed that the volume buttons on the headphone jacks will not work with this adapter. This was similar on the Belkin adapter. However, if you use Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter the volume buttons do work. However, since the Apple adapter had only a single 3.5mm jack on it, you can’t charge your iPad while you are listening to music or watching a movie. That is the main reason why I wanted this type of adapter. I like the T shaped design as opposed to the wire hanging out the bottom with a dongle on it like the Belkin adapter had. The T shaped design looks much cleaner. I have bought other StarTech products in the past for my computer and haven’t had any problems with them. Overall another great product. ... show more

I use this adapter for my Galaxy Z Fold 3 and particularly for gaming. It's honestly a really great investment because I prefer to do most mobile gaming with headphones and need the jack. I can also charge my device at the same time, but the BEST part of it all is that it's right angled so it doesn't stick out of your phone too much. Not so much protrusion when you're gaming and you can charge the device comfortably. This is a MUST when gaming with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 because of the placement of the USB C port. The location of the charging port was poorly designed because it becomes uncomfortable to charge the device while gaming so this item is much needed. What holds it back from being a 5-star item is that the charging is not consistent. I'm always using a fast charger but when plugged in, the device will show "charging via usb port" which reduces the speeds of charging. It's bothersome because the charging is not consistent, which defeats the purpose of being able to charge and play at the same time. Overall not a bad tool to have and it definitely makes gaming much easier. It doesn't stick out too much so your hands aren't farther away from the device. ... show more
